How to get 1p per point for your American Express Membership Rewards points

A couple of days ago we posted about a special offer for converting Nectar points to LNER train credit.
You can read our article here, but basically until 14th August you get 1p per point (double the usual 0.5p per point) when you convert your Nectar points into LNER rail vouchers. These are valid until early 2021 on LNER Advance tickets in Standard or First.
What I forgot at the time I wrote this is that American Express Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Nectar points. The conversion page is here.
The stated transfer time is four working days, so they would easily arrive in time to order some LNER vouchers. Getting 1p per Membership Rewards point is a decent deal, unless you very confident you can get more than 1p of value via a frequent flyer mile or hotel points redemption.
It is also worth remembering that there is no minimum conversion amount to Nectar from Amex. If you just want to move 1 point across, you can do! It is a great way of fully emptying your account if you are closing your Amex card, given that Avios only accepts transfers in chunks of 500 after the first 1,000.
