Hilton is currently running an APAC sale to celebrate its 100th anniversary. This covers hotels across South East Asia, Australasia, Japan, Korea and Greater China.

Discounts are up to 25% off the Best Available Rate. There is an additional discount for logged-in Hilton Honors members, except in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

The new Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi is included, image below, as is the – more affordable – brand new Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.

As always with Hilton sales, your room will be non refundable and requires pre-payment. This means that the 25% discount is not a genuine one because you would usually save 10% anyway by pre-paying. You should still see an additional saving, however.

You need to book by 6th September for stays until 29th February.

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.

You can also earn Hilton Honors points indirectly with American Express Gold (20,000 bonus points), the American Express Rewards Credit Card (5,000 bonus points) and – for small business owners – American Express Business Gold (20,000 bonus points) and Business Platinum (40,000 bonus points).

  I think as a cash fare that was pretty much a once in a lifetime occasion, especially leaving from Spain; we never see those kinds of fares here! We went for it as they even let me hold the tickets for 24hrs before paying…. off to Mexico next week.

        Yes, its part of Small Luxury Hotels. Really good value – I looked at a couple of Sat nights and it was 25k vs £375. Worth buying the Hyatt points actually if there is a promo on.

  The Heythrop Park near Enstone is no longer a Crowne Plaza, but was pretty good when we last went pre-deflagging, especially if you can get a room in the old part.

OT — I know that Avios bookings on BA can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the flight for a full Avios refund. Is the same true of Avios bookings on Iberia (via Iberia.com)?

  Yes and no. Yes on Iberia, Iberia Express, Air Nostrum and British Airways operated flights – 24h before scheduled departure 25 EUR. On all other partners, redemptions are non-refundable.

Does anyone have the Avis AWD to hand for the Amex Plat card? I have signed up for the account etc but cant find the code.

  I believe you have to call Avis to have it added. They hardcode it into your profile. It took me ages to do because the online system is set up on the assumption that you’re creating a new Avis profile.

    You certainly get Avios and Tier Points ( did last September anyway). You basically get a slightly discounted fare through hotline and is usually cheaper than whatever BA’s main website is offering.

  Hotlines are quota controlled for the person issuing them, but can be given to friends and family. Avios and TP as normal, no OnBusiness – and crucially (for HFP!) no UUA or op-ups are permitted (AUPs are fine if available though). Bags always included – which means that HBO publicly is sometimes (not always) cheaper. The scheme is due to change imminently, no word (yet) if it’s for better or for worse, it’s closely guarded for the moment at least.
