Excellent Nectar redemption deal with LNER trains – get 1p per point

If you have a stash of Nectar points from your Sainsburys shopping or from other partners, you will know that 95% of redemptions get you a flat 0.5p per point.

Until 14th August, however, Nectar is running a ‘double up’ promotion with LNER. It seems to be open to all although you need to check on the Nectar app in the ‘Offers’ section or on the website.

If you redeem your Nectar points for LNER vouchers before 14th August, you will receive 1p per point.

Get double value for Nectar points with LNER

The only restriction is that you can only use these vouchers to purchase LNER Advance tickets, in either Standard or First Classs. You cannot buy tickets for travel on other train operators.

You redeem your voucher immediately via your LNER account and the credit is waiting for you the next time you book.

The terms and conditions says that voucher codes are valued “for at least 12 months”. In reality, people who have redeemed so far say that they show an expiry date of 31st December 2020. As you can book 12 weeks ahead, this gives an effective ‘travel by’ date of late March 2021.

As long as you are sure you will be using the credit, this is an excellent opportunity to cash out your existing Nectar points balance for a good price.

OT. Had a GIB flight in December cancelled by BA. I rang up and changed the date of the flights.

Now in MMB one of the legs shows as being in W class (original booking was O class), do you think that I’ll get the higher avios and TPs?

OT – Question about ANA award flights with Virgin miles:

Is it possible to do a booking such as CDG – NRT – LHR at the same miles cost? This is if there is no round trip availability LHR – NRT – LHR.

    VS is pretty opaque about lots of award costs, you would almost get the impression VS would rather not pay other airlines you could book using your VS miles!!
    
    I suggest you call them and ask. CDG and LHR by no means cost the same to reach from the same starting point in various programs.

Just asked BALPA for an update and got sent the above.

We are flying DUB – LHR – BKK on 13th August.

If British Airways cancel this flight on Tuesday 30th (after the hearing) – giving 14 days notice, do they have any re-routing / compensation requirements? From looking at EC 261 it looks like they have no requirement at all?

  As we have said before, the seats are simply not available to reroute you. All planes, all operators are going out full, pretty much – unless you are holidaying in Frankfurt or similar.

OT Great day out at McLaren with Hilton Honors. Well worth it, the activities for the kids was good along with the pit stop challenge. Food was great too. Nice to see they opened it up a bit so we could see them working on F1 cars carbon fibre, making a seat etc.
