Gatwick Airport opens new gates for arriving British Airways domestic passengers – no more buses

Gatwick Airport has opened a new route at the South Terminal to allow domestic passengers to be dropped at an airbridge.

In the past, domestic passengers had to be transferred by bus from their aircraft to the terminal because of the need to segregate domestic and international arrivals.

Following a £24 million investment, domestic passengers – which includes the BA Jersey service and Aurigny’s Guernsey flights – will now be able to use Gates 1-5 and collect their luggage at a dedicated domestic arrivals belt.

A new system of internal doors which can be adjusted to direct passengers to different parts of the terminal allows these gates to be used for either domestic or international flights.

You can find out more on the ITV website here and on Flyertalk here.  There does not appear to have been any official media release.

Out of interest, do folks have much luck using a 241 at short notice in F? Perhaps 3-4 months in advance?

    • Nick_C says:

Probably depends a lot on the route and the time of year. I got F to Tokyo in Dec last year, booking about two months out. There were only 5 of us in the F cabin, and I know that four of us were on redemptions and using 241 vouchers.

We booked a f class flight to Santiago return in June 2 months in advance. We had just earned our 241 voucher and decided to go wherever there was available to fit in with our holiday dates in June. We had an excellent time

    • Anna says:

Yes, if you’re flexible with your destination you should find something. Consider subscribing to the advanced version of Reward Flight Finder so you can put in a date and be shown all the available routes in F.

Hiltons price match guarantee is absolutely worthless.

Trip had much cheaper prices, yet they wont match them because you have to log in to trip to get the price. Yet you have to log in to hilton to get the lower prices too?

If I book via trip, will I stil likely get diamond lounge if I give hilton number at check in or is there a high chance of not getting? Won’t book the hilton if not lol.

    • Andy says:

Have you tried contacting the hotel directly to match the cheaper price? I’ve heard you can call some Hiltons and if they can locate the cheaper price on their computer they will match the price and give the 25% off. May be worth a shot.

    • QatarFan says:

The $75 cheque I received last week suggests it’s not entirely worthless. Had to appeal an initial decline using screenshots but then got the money very quickly. From their perspective, you having to log in to access a price could indicate any amount of behind the scenes payment/gaming. Not so with their own site.

    • Olly says:

Unless you book direct with Hilton you will undoubtedly get no benefits acknowledged

Do CC companies do any credit check if you request a credit limit to be higher? hard/soft?

    • Jonathan says:

It depends on the card company but generally Yes, hard. If you’ve been long standing with Amex then they usually use their own system. Creation hard search every time. The others are hit and miss.
