American Express will have a cardmember lounge at Wimbledon. How can you get in?

American Express has teamed up with Wimbledon to offer a variety of amenities during the 2019 tournament, which starts on Monday.
This includes a members lounge. You can see the details on the Wimbledon website here.
Visit the American Express Wimbledon Cardmember Lounge
The biggest benefit is the members lounge, located in the Southern Village by Court 3.
Any American Express cardholder can enter the lounge, irrespective of the country where their card was issued.
Each cardholder can take up to two guests into the lounge.
The American Express Fan Experience
Open to everyone who attends the Championships – no Amex card required – the Amex-sponsored fan zone promises hammocks, phone charging stations, a complementary custom-postcard station as well as a VR challenge called ‘Champions Rally’ that includes Andy Murray.
Free radios
Amex will also be providing complimentary branded radios so you can get live updates from Centre Court, No.1 Court or the Wimbledon Radio channel wherever you are in the grounds. These are ‘while supplies last’ so you may have to be quick one of these. These are only available to cardholders.
An exclusive £20 cashback offer
There’s also a special cashback offer for purchases on site. If you spend £120 or more in the grounds between 1st and the 14th July you’ll get £20 back. You can only get the cashback once.
Annoyingly, you must register for this offer on site at either the Amex lounge or the Amex Tennis Fan Experience. You CANNOT register online.
According to the terms and conditions, “qualifying spend may be made in single or multiple purchases on enrolled Card.” Supplementary card holders appear to be able to enrol separately and double up on the cashback via their own card.
Importantly, many non-UK American Express cards qualify for the cashback – it is NOT restricted to UK cardholders:
“An eligible Card means a valid American Express Consumer or Small Business credit or charge Card issued in one of the Eligible Markets: UK, US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, India, Italy, Singapore, Sweden, Spain, Japan.”
Do note though that:
“Corporate Cards, Pre-Paid Cards, and Lloyds Bank-issued Cards are not eligible.”
Conclusion
If you’re heading to Wimbledon this is a new set of benefits to enjoy. American Express has done some great pop-up lounges in the past (including the Christmas ones in Covent Garden and at the Frieze Art Fair) so this could be an excellent place to relax when you’re not watching a match.
