New Hilton and American Express hotel cashback promotion launched

Hilton has launched a new American Express promotion. This may be found on some, all or none of your Amex cards, under the ‘Offer’ tab on your online statement page.

There are a few variants, looking at reader comments yesterday. My version is ‘get 4,000 Membership Rewards points for spending £350 by 31st August’.

The £350 must be spent at selected European hotels only. Because of the 3% foreign exchange fee charged by American Express, the offer is less attractive if used outside the UK if you could otherwise pay on a 0% FX fees card.

Whilst the rules do not specify this, Hilton offers have historically triggered on cumulative spend. It does not all need to be done in one transaction.

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.

You can also earn Hilton Honors points indirectly with American Express Gold (20,000 bonus points), the American Express Rewards Credit Card (5,000 bonus points) and – for small business owners – American Express Business Gold (20,000 bonus points) and Business Platinum (40,000 bonus points).

First transfer from Revolut to another account,£900
Received a cod to set a new beneficiary,worked fine,then at the final stage,prompted to enter it again-invalid code.Tried to request another code,nothing happens,trying to get in touch with a human at their CS!Anyone experienced some issue?not sure if to try it again or give it a bit of time!

Rob, have your Curve transactions hit your Diners Club account yet? I’ve done three large transactions so far, starting on Saturday 1st June 2019, and none have appeared on my Diners Club account, even 5 days later.

  Yes, yesterday – a chunk cleared at once, the earliest of which was from 29th.
  
  It is annoying that the Diners Club app (well, the mobile-optimised website) does not show pending transactions.
  
  An ATM transaction in the UK is not showing any cash advance fees, although Diners seems to add these as a separate line item at the end of the month so we can’t be 100% certain it is OK for another week or so.

    The lack of an app is a disgrace. It makes little difference that it is responsive (mobile-optimised). The biggest problem is that you have to tediously tap the screen around 50 times to log in. Next time you log in, count the number of taps, which will increase with a long e-mail address and complex password.

      iPhone memorises the log-in and password and activates it via touch/face ID.

    I did two Curve transactions (to fund Revolut account) using Miles and More Mastercard which seem to count as cash advances when they hit the diners club card.
    
    £3 charge on £100 transaction. So not very cost effective.
    
    No charges when using same method to charge Virgin Credit Card so going to “go back in time” on curve and hope it reverses everything and stick with the Virgin Card
