Yesterday we covered the chance to spend a day at Wimbledon with full hospitality by using your IHG Rewards Club points.

Reader Charlieface sent me a link to a similar Wimbledon points auction being run by Hertz.

Here’s the thing.  Very few people know that Hertz even has an auction platform for rewards.  Even fewer people in the UK know.  Of those that do, not many of them actually have many Hertz points in the first place (I always credit my Hertz rentals to Virgin Flying Club to earn 1,000 miles).

What this means is that these exceptionally valuable packages can – literally – not be given away at the moment.

As you can see, there are SIX packages available.  Each gets you two Centre Court or No 1 Court tickets for the Men’s Quarter Finals plus full hospitality.  The market rate for this package is £6,250 assuming you get Centre Court tickets or £3,530 for No 1 Court.

(The small print says you get “Centre Court/Court One tickets”.  There is no implication that you get any choice.  With the roof on No 1 Court in place, there is no real issue with getting No 1 Court in terms of the tennis but it isn’t the same experience as Centre Court.)

Of the six packages, four have no bids at all.  There is a reserve bid of 15,000 Hertz points but this is a fairly low bar – yesterday Hertz was selling 20,000 points for $560 in a one-day event.
