UPDATE – DECEMBER 2021:  This article is now out of date, but don’t worry.  We produce a monthly summary of the top hotel bonus point offers – please click HERE or use the ‘Hotel Offers’ menu above.

Radisson Rewards is running a global double points promotion until 19th December 2021. You can read our article here and you can register here.

Radisson Rewards has announced its Summer promotion.

Called ‘Discover More Staying Power’, it is valid for stays worldwide between 27th May and 31st August.  Participating brands are Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson,

You will earn 3,000 bonus Radisson Rewards points per NIGHT, starting with your 2nd stay during the promotional period.

I tend to value a Radisson Rewards point at 0.33p.  This means that you are getting £9 of bonus points per night.  This is a very good return, especially at cheap Park Inn hotels.

You MUST register in advance for this offer by clicking here.  Existing bookings count.  Reward nights and, importantly, ‘points & cash’ bookings do not count.  As usual, stays booked via third parties such as Expedia will not count.

Be careful with the ‘starting with your 2nd stay’ rule.  If you were going to spend 7-10 days in a Radisson Rewards hotel it might be worth seeking out a cheap Park Inn somewhere to sneak in a mattress run night before that.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (December 2021)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.  These include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Gold status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.

OT: What is the latest on the Lloyds Avios card? Are people getting charge fx fees? I did get the letter mid-March and it has been 2 months since their notification. However, need to make a few payments in USD so wanted to check if it’s charging fx fees now. Thank you.

    • mark2 says:

I think that the answer is ‘sometimes’.
I hate had the letter but my wife has not. Last two weeks we used both in Canada and have not been charged fx on either, but others have.
Some charges are still pending after ten days

    • Roberto says:

      Had the letter
      Not got the new card
Been charged fx fees from the 15th may

    • Wally1976 says:

I’ve still had no letter and the cards seem to be continuing as normal for now. Maybe there’s a benefit to having a surname starting with ‘W’ after all!

      • Anna says:

I’ve not had the letter either (though Lloyds apparently wasn’t aware of this until very recently) and I’m much earlier in the alphabet than you! Who knows what methodology they are using…

      • Lady London says:

My surname starts with ‘B’ and I can confirm there are few advantages to this…. usually first up for the ‘chop’ on anything….

I’ll just have to marry somebody whose surname begins with ‘W’ ‘X’ ‘Y’ or ‘Z’, I guess 🙂

  • Tariq says:

I haven’t received any correspondence for the Platinum fee increase yet, is that unusual? Fee due in August I think.

  • Tom says:

OT but Amex related.. reading this I was just reminded that I am yet to receive any communications from Alex about the cost increases on my Plat. Has everybody received theirs already?

    • BJ says:

      Who’s Alex? 🙂

      • Lady London says:

Hi BJ, just to say thanks for the finance contact you mentioned a few days ago. I caught up late on yours and Shoestring’s replies and thought it better to say thanks when you might actually see my reply 🙂

    • Rob says:

They are being staggered – the Brighton post office can’t cope with so many boxes on one day!

    • Andrew S says:

I have, and I now live on the other side of the earth

      • guesswho2000 says:

I have not, and I also live on the other side of the earth!

  • Rob mc says:

    OT
Green to Play upgrade. How long are people waiting on a result from Amex? I applied on the 21st and still haven’t heard anything…

    • Memesweeper says:

I applied yesterday and I’m not expecting an immediate result. IIRC from Gold it took a week and there was no email ahead of time to confirm.

    • Wally1976 says:

Mine took a full month and 2 phone calls!

    • Relaxo says:

Took 2 working days for me

    • guesswho2000 says:

Not long, I did it about maybe a fortnight ago, took a couple of day, spent £1,800 on flights with Qantas, points posted as soon as the purchase cleared.

  • BJ says:

OT: Article on UK airport delays. Impressive result for LGR given it is the busiest by far.
    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-48424232

    • Michael says:

Do you mean LHR? They pad the schedules well there. Ryanair probably don’t as much hence delays.

  • Paul says:

That big glossy booklet went in the recycling bin as soon as it arrived. What a ridiculous waste of paper and postage.

The 28% hike in fee is hard to swallow but whilst there are still 4 of of us who need travel insurance and the BAPP remains free I will hold on to it

    • Michael says:

      +1

    • Paul Stevens says:

How do you have a BAPP for free?

      • Rob says:

When launched, BAPP was free if you had a Plat. The benefit was retained even when dropped for new Plats – I don’t pay for my BAPP either.

        • Darren says:

When was the change to a fee on the BAPP for Platinum holders?

        • Michael says:

Out of interest – do you make use of your 241 Rob? Can you use it in conjunction with your wife’s gold trick to force availability?

          • Rob says:

No, you can’t combine with a ‘double Avios’ ticket which I think is a missed trick.

Currently sitting on 3 x 241 between us but that is a deliberate decision not to do any family long-hauls in 2019 except for the annual October DXB trip – and my wife always joins that later so we can’t voucher it.

  • Ken says:

Free round was for a 2 night (consecutive) stay. However, this was a cracking benefit for anyone who plays golf wanting to try the worlds best courses, as green fees for a round can easily top £200+
Will kill the card for another sub section of holders.
You can get similar benefit going through Bonvoy agent at some of the courses.

    • TGLoyalty says:

I was thinking will this just become part of FHR where benefits are already offered on stays at the better hotels and resorts.

  • Alex B says:

OT – How long does it take for ex annual fee refunds to post? Is it automatic? (Pro Rata – Not in first 30 days)

    • Wally1976 says:

They normally post automatically after a few days then you have to get in touch to let then know how you want to receive it.
