Iberia launches a new luggage scanning app which can measure your suitcase

Iberia has updated its iOS mobile app to allow you to scan the size of your luggage.  And where Iberia goes, British Airways is likely to follow.

This will, in theory, remove uncertainty for some users (especially infrequent flyers) who are often nervous about having to pay extra for inadvertently bringing a larg cabin bag, although I doubt Iberia is as focused on this as some low cost carriers.

Iberia is not the first airline to introduce the feature: Ryanair recently introduced similar functionality which was available on my recent Ryanair flight to Lisbon in April.  It is probably driven by the same technology and will no doubt be ubiquitous on airline apps in the near future.
