Emirates Skywards has made a LOT of tickets for the Rugby World Cup available for redemption with Skywards miles.

How to earn Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards (December 2021)

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Emirates Skywards miles which is an attractive rate. The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Emirates Skywards mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

OT I have a paid World Traveller Plus ticket on BA that I have upgraded using Avios to Business Class. I know that I am only entitled to the Avios and tier points for the class originally booked. However, If I am offered a further cash upgrade to First would I earn Avios and tier points for First or WTP?

    When I added a return leg recently to a 2 4 1 booking by phone the (English) CSA said it would be possible to get a cash upgrade at the airport.

  Two thing: unless it has changed recently you will get CW avios and TP even though you are only supposed to get them bases on WTP. I’ve never tried double upgrade where UUA is used. However, I see no harm in asking, both at check in and even on board. BA seems happy to grab cash anyway it can these days. Also, check your app to see if anything is on offer.

OT- Trying to organise economy flights Tokyo to Hong Kong and see some fares too good to be true (a third of cost of Cathay pacific with checked luggage ) with HK express airline. Any experience with them?

A question regarding BA status please. Suppose a membership year ends on 3rd of June this year, at blue level, but then before June is finished flights are flown totalling in excess of 600 tier points, and including four or more ‘eligible flights’…is it accurate to say that, barring later qualification for gold, silver status would be held until 3rd of June 2021?

  Close, but in fact the status lasts until the end of the month after the TP year ends. So your 3rd June year (it would actually be 8th June, but nvm) would give you Silver status until 31st July 2021.

  Membership years always end on the 8th of a month so in answer to your question:
  
  Membership year ends 8th June 2019, current membership card will expire July 31st 2019
  If, after 8th June 2019, 600 Tier Points and 4 Qualifying flights are obtained, Silver membership would then be held until July 31st 2021.

OT – how long does it take typically to find out if you’ve been approved for an Amex charge card (green or platinum?) We didn’t get an instant decision which I’ve heard is quite common, but still haven’t heard anything a few days later – we’ve always been approved quickly for the credit cards so I’m not sure if this is normal or not!

Also, does anyone know what kind of minimum income they like to approve you for platinum?

  Give it roughly 5-10 days, usually closer to 5-7 according to most reports. I think the minimum for platinum is ed to be £40k IIRC but they scrapped that.

Hardly surprising about St Petersburg and Kiev. Visas are a factor as Rob says for St Petersburg – £120 or thereabouts and a whole load of chasing around. As for Kiev, it’s a crowded airfield with Ryanair, Wizzair and UIA undercutting BA’s overpriced but thoroughly pisspoor Eurotraveller product.
