This weekend (Sunday night to be precise) is your last chance to take advantage of the EXCELLENT First Class and Business Class ‘2-4-1’ deals being offered by SWISS and Lufthansa

Unlike some fare deals we write about, these are for departures from the UK so you don’t need to position yourself somewhere in Europe first.

Availability is very good – although not as good as it was when the offer launched a couple of weeks ago – and you can travel until the end of March 2020.  This misses the Easter weekend as Good Friday 2020 is 10th April.

Even better for those who live outside London, you can also book these deals from UK regional airports.

Swiss Boeing 777

This offer ran last year and was hugely popular with HfP readers, and I know a lot of people have booked this year too.  You won’t earn Avios or BA tier points but you WILL get a very classy travel experience at a fantastic price.

You will also earn a pile of Miles & More or other Star Alliance miles which can be a handy alternative to Avios.

If you have Avios tickets booked to any of these destinations, you should do the maths on whether you should cancel (£35 per person fee, all Avios and cash returned) and book one of these deals instead.

Business Class deals

Here are the Business Class deals.  These are return prices per person from London BUT based on two people travelling.

Some deals are even cheaper than £999 but these are not always operated on long-haul aircraft.

Lufthansa 2-4-1 UK sale

With Lufthansa, you can depart from London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Manchester with a transfer in Germany.  You can book these deals here.

Remember that you need to search for TWO people to see these fares.

  • Abuja £999
  • Addis Ababa £999
  • Almaty £999
  • Amman £499
  • Astana £999
  • Baku £749
  • Beijing £1,499 (£1,349 from Manchester)
  • Beirut £499
  • Bengaluru £999
  • Bogota £1,250
  • Buenos Aires £1,499
  • Chennai £999
  • Delhi £999
  • Dubai £999
  • Hong Kong £999
  • Jeddah £999
  • Johannesburg £1,499
  • Kuwait £999
  • Lagos £999
  • Mumbai £999
  • Nanjing £1,349
  • Port Harcourt £999
  • Rio de Janeiro £1,250
  • Riyadh £999
  • Sao Paulo £1,500
  • Seoul £1,250
  • Shanghai £1,350
  • Tehran £749

Lufthansa is 100% fully flat in long-haul business class, although not everyone is a fan of the current seat layout which means that both of you are sharing a footrest, albeit with a divider.  The A350 cabin is pictured above.  SWISS is better in this regard as the seats are not angled towards your neighbour.

That said …. as these are 2-4-1 deals it is highly likely that your neighbour will be your companion.

Swiss 2-4-1 UK sale

First Class deals

Lufthansa’s First Class seat may not look so special, but it is a genuinely special experience, especially for lovers of premium lounges, chauffeur driven plane transfers and caviar.

Swiss First Class

Here are the rules:

  • Book by Sunday 19th May via the special links
  • Two people must travel together
  • Travel at ANY point – subject to availability – from 1st June 2019 until 30th March 2020 (until 14th February 2020 for China)
  • Must stay for six days, including a Saturday night, and the maximum stay is three months

Lufthansa is, perhaps, the most civilised First Class experience there is.   Here is the review of my Lufthansa First Class flight from 2017.  And, of course, the First Class Terminal – yes, a whole terminal – in Frankfurt where you get driven to the steps of your plane is something everyone should try once.

SWISS offers an excellent First Class and Business Class service.   We are NOT talking Emirates or Etihad style private suites, by any means, but you get a good quality seat, good food and drink and a very attentive crew.  It is a very civilised experience.

I flew SWISS First Class again last year, although I didn’t review it for the site, and it was as impressive as usual, albeit I put it a notch below Lufthansa First Class as the food is not as outstanding.  I also flew in SWISS Business Class to Dubai last October with my family and it was similarly good, although the seats are showing their age a bit.  Here is an older review of SWISS First Class I did.

SWISS and Lufthansa are both part of Lufthansa’s Miles & More loyalty scheme, although you can of course credit your flight to any other Star Alliance programme.  Whilst I am generally very positive about Miles & More, you may want to consider other Star Alliance schemes as M&M is now revenue based – and when you pay peanuts for your fare, you earn peanuts in miles!

How to book

For SWISS, it has now removed its dedicated availability calendars for this offer because they were throwing up error messages.  You need to book via this page here.

For Lufthansa:

all of the Business Class deals for London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester can be found here

and all of the First Class deals are here

Your best option to maximise your miles when paying is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold.  This offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.  Our review of Amex Gold is here.

There are some genuinely excellent deals here especially if you live outside London and especially because of the long travel period.  Take a serious look over the weekend.

  • Dave H says:

If you book Swiss First there is a free (50 miles road trip) Limo service https://www.swiss.com/unitedkingdom/EN/first-class-limousine-service

    • dgsupersonic says:

Thanks Dave H. Good to know.

    • Stuart Evans says:

Are bookings in First in this promotion in a restricted Booking Class so perhaps not eligible. And what happens if you live more than 59 miles away?

      • Rob says:

You’d need to ask. Emirates used to have a price list if you lived further away, whilst Virgin would give you the distance per person – so a couple travelling together could live 100 miles away and still get a free ride.

      • Dave H says:

They charge you an excess over the 50, which they work on the actual road distance, not the radius as advertised!

  • dgsupersonic says:

I was able to book Swiss First Class tickets for the Easter holidays in this promo.

  • Patrycja says:

I managed to book New Delhi First Class Lufthansa out and Swiss back from Edinburgh for New Year for £1,500. I thought it was a bargain.

    • Alex says:

£1500 each is a real bargain! New Deli is one of my fav places to visit especially when going into Indian for a long period aswell

      • Colin MacKinnon says:

Just booked EDI-Zurich-Dar Es Salaam in F and back from JNB in business. £1500 each!

Was a real pain booking with Swiss, they wanted me to fly at 8:30pm with BA to London, then 6am to Zurich – even though there is a Swiss (Edelweiss) flight from Edinburgh to Zurich at 11:35 are 14:50 which would give us a nice night out in Zurich!

Had to hang up and call again a few times: most times they denied the flight EDI-ZRH existed, then they said the DAR flight was fully booked – even in F!

So had to create trip in ITA matrix, them copy to the book with matrix web page and click though to Priceline. Payments, tickets etc all OK in Swiss webpage within 10 minutes!

Just a shame I can’t find discount codes for the Radisson Blu at the airport. Open to hotel suggestions…

      • Patrycja says:

I cannot wait to try out Lufthansa First class and visit New Delhi.
I’m thinking of spending new year in Goa. Do you have any hotel recommendations?

        • IanMac says:

I’ve stayed at the Park Hyatt Goa.
Location is very nice, hotel restaurants, breakfast areas etc excellent.
Rooms are a bit ‘traditional’ – slightly old fashioned – could do with a refurb.
I heard that the suites are much better.

          • Patrycja Coz says:

Thanks, I was looking at Hyatt and Marriott hotels. They both look a bit tired but get great reviews. There doesn’t seem to be a good option which will also earn loyalty points

    • Dave H says:

There is a meet and greet service at New Dehli, we had a good experience in March flying with Swiss in F, met at the door as we departed the plane, we were transiting and staying overnight at the airside hotel, the lass took us through all the transit checks and through to the hotel. On return they had been trying to contact us (on the wrong number as it happened) to meet us on arrival at the airport, but we were eventually met at the check in desk, again escorted through all the checks and taken directly to the lounge which was the Singapore Airlines lounge, then later escorted to the aircraft.

      • Patrycja Coz says:

Good to know. The meet and greet will be very welcome given the arrival time at 1am

  • rob says:

Am I right in thinking the multi-city option link is dead? It hasn’t worked since they launched the promo and therefore can’t book open jaw which is a shame.

  • Alex says:

I have grabbed LH Business class LHR – HKG in this sale! – Credited to United which gives me circa 12K miles which is enough for a EU redemption so very happy. Also never flown LH business so very excited indeed, we have selected upper deck seats!

  • Tom says:

This is such a great deal. “Regional airports” include LCY. So we’re going LH business as a family of 3 to Hong Kong during October half term for a smidge over £3,000 all in. From LCY via Frankfurt. 747-8 upper deck on the way back. No lounge obv at LCY but it’s very convenient for us.

  • sara says:

can this 2 for 1 deal cover 1 adult and 1 child?

    • Charlieface says:

Think you need at least 2 adults. But after that you can add whoever

    • Ezhil Suresh says:

Booked for my wife and 2 young kids through Google Flights and payment through Google directly with Lufthansa on J. LHR-BLR during July/August for £2994.

  • Urty says:

I can’t seem to find any business class flights to Beirut for August 2019 although it’s listed above. Any suggestions?

    Thanks
