Hilton is celebrating the new royal baby with a competition to win a royal mini-break.

The winner will receive a two-night stay in a suite at the Conrad London St James including breakfast and afternoon tea. You will also get a tour of Royal London courtesy of Travel Curious.

Importantly, you can stay whenever you want over the next 12 months, subject to blackout dates. The suite will take two adults and two children.

Conrad London St James – website here – is a very nice hotel indeed, easily the plushest Hilton in London, so even if you live here it would be worth moving in for a couple of days.

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.

OT anyone with flights booked (with seats selected) at the end of half term should keep an eye on them… every available A321 has been commandeered to upguage LHRMAD flights, so seat selection on routes that have lost them will have fallen out (no flights have been cancelled though, and no one has had to be rebooked, they’ve been clever about where they’ve taken them from).

Anyone on the lunchtime 777 flight should note it’s been changed to a 77W so same applies. Flub is a safe bet.

Anyone who wants a ticket (any airline), keep an eye out on Wed/Thu next week – MAD has imposed super-peak slot restrictions that weekend and that’s when they’ll tell airlines which extra ones they’ve won, so expect seats to go on sale immediately afterwards.

OT Just getting around to looking at the AMEX25OFF offer on Amazon. I know lots had problems as am I. Trying to order 3 different whiskies for hubby, all sold by AMazon but not accepting the code on any of them. I’ve linked the Amex MR account ok. Are others still having problems or has the code run out.

OT If booking a hotel through FHR on Amex site, do you have to pay with the Platinum card at the hotel (no pre pay is being offered) or can you simply present the Platinum and pay with another card that doesn’t charge FX fees? I’m looking at booking a hotel in Amsterdam through FHR for a night but I’m not keen to get hit with 3% FX fees when paying on Amex Platinum at check out.

  Hotels usually insist on paying with an Amex. I just use my Gold card, 2MRs/£ (almost) offsets the FX charge and it helps hit the £15k target spend.

  It’s actually a very short block off a square which is called St. James’s Square which contains the HQ of a certain large energy company in which building I worked for three years. St. James’s Square is just South of the Eastern end of Jermyn Street which is closer to Piccadilly but spiritually St. James. Very handy to Fortnums for your lunch whuchbis cheaper than a lot of the surrounding sandwich bars!
  
  For Rob after the Virgin Lge in Eagle Place closes there is a decent Pret a Manger still in St James just a little further along than Fortnum’s 🙂
  
  The Conrad is actually in (Lower) Regent Street just as it opens out into the square that has steps at the bottom of it into The Mall (also known as being in the St. James area).

    I used to use that Pret a lot, because I hot desked from the Regus on Lower Regent Street quite a bit before we got a proper office!
