Excellent 2-4-1 First and Business Class flights deals from the UK with Lufthansa and SWISS

SWISS and Lufthansa have launched some EXCELLENT First Class and Business Class ‘2-4-1’ deals.  Unlike some fare deals we write about, these are for departures from the UK so you don’t need to position yourself somewhere in Europe first.

Availability is very good and you can travel until the end of March 2020 – although this misses the Easter weekend as Good Friday 2020 is 10th April.

Even better for those who live outside London, you can also book these deals from UK regional airports.

Swiss Boeing 777

This offer ran last year and was hugely popular with HfP readers.  You won’t earn Avios or BA tier points but you WILL get a very classy travel experience at a fantastic price.  You will also earn a pile of Miles & More or other Star Alliance miles which can be a handy alternative to Avios.

If you have Avios tickets booked to any of these destinations, you should do the maths on whether you should cancel (£35 per person fee, all Avios and cash returned) and book one of these deals instead.

Business Class deals

Here are the Business Class deals.  These are return prices per person from London BUT based on two people travelling.

Some deals are even cheaper than £999 but these are not always operated on long-haul aircraft.

Lufthansa 2-4-1 UK sale

With Lufthansa, you can depart from London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Manchester with a transfer in Germany.  You can book these deals here.

Remember that you need to search for TWO people to see these fares.

  • Abuja £999
  • Addis Ababa £999
  • Almaty £999
  • Amman £499
  • Astana £999
  • Baku £749
  • Beijing £1,499 (£1,349 from Manchester)

Lufthansa is 100% fully flat in long-haul business class, although not everyone is a fan of the current seat layout which means that both of you are sharing a footrest, albeit with a divider.  The A350 cabin is pictured above.  SWISS is better in this regard as the seats are not angled towards your neighbour.

That said …. as these are 2-4-1 deals it is highly likely that your neighbour will be your companion.

Here are your options flying in SWISS Business Class, photo above.  You can see an availability calendar here from London on the SWISS website and availability is very good.  All flights require a transfer in Zurich or Geneva.

  • Bangkok £1,250
  • Beijing £1,500
  • Buenos Aires £1,500
  • Dar es Salaam £999
  • Delhi £999

Lufthansa is, perhaps, the most civilised First Class experience there is.   Here is the review of my Lufthansa First Class flight from 2017.  And, of course, the First Class Terminal – yes, a whole terminal – in Frankfurt where you get driven to the steps of your plane is something everyone should try once.

SWISS offers an excellent First Class and Business Class service.   We are NOT talking Emirates or Etihad style private suites, by any means, but you get a good quality seat, good food and drink and a very attentive crew.  It is a very civilised experience.

I flew SWISS First Class again last year, although I didn’t review it for the site, and it was as impressive as usual, albeit I put it a notch below Lufthansa First Class as the food is not as outstanding.  I also flew in SWISS Business Class to Dubai last October with my family and it was similarly good, although the seats are showing their age a bit.  Here is an older review of SWISS First Class I did.

SWISS and Lufthansa are both part of Lufthansa’s Miles & More loyalty scheme, although you can of course credit your flight to any other Star Alliance programme.

  • Derek (McManus) says:

Does anyone i know if I can use this offer for either one way or open jaw return? Later in the year we are flying to Dubai and returning from Hong Kong 3 weeks later. Ideally we would like to fly to Dubai in First and back from Hong Kong in Business. Is it possible with this offer? Apologises for asking but I am unable to use the airline website at the moment.

    • Lady London says:

not sure if your jaw is open too wide on that one. I suggest you call them. Open jaw normally possible even on sale fares. It’ll be in the terms and conditions that you will be able to see when purchasing the ticket, some websites/airlines work so you can see these if you click on the fare class, some just list the terms and conditions directly. For a normal person, it’ll be quicker to just call the airline than try to make your way through these.

      • Lady London says:

        * and even if fare conditions allow often an oj has to be booked by calling anyway

    • John says:

No that won’t work because DXB-HKG (the non-flight segment) is further than LHR-DXB (the shortest flight segment).

    • Stuart says:

We used their last identical offer to fly into Mumbai and out of Delhi. I called them to do that and it wasn’t an issue at all.

    • Paul says:

Did open jaw last year on their offer, LHR-ZRH-HKG then SIN-ZRH-LHR, just booked on web site as multi city (actually came back on SIN A380) Did Da Nang on the way down to SIN too…

  • Teresa Reid says:

Swiss Business Class is the worst I’ve ever flied on and would never recommend to anyone. The space between the seat in front and the barrier between the two seats is only 22cms and you have to wake the person in the outside seat to access the toilet. I would never fly Swiss Air again, unfortunately I am booked to return on 6 May, not looking forward to it.

    • Rob says:

Surely if you are in the middle block or one of the ‘throne’ seats then you’re not climbing over anyone.

Just had a quick look at the seat map and only 9 out of 62 seats on a Boeing 777 do not have direct aisle access.

      • Roger* says:

The A340 used for JNB has several pairs of biz seats which include a window seat.

Although I could not agee with the poster who claimed that LX biz seats were the worst, these pairs are to be avoided unless a BA-style climbover from the window seat is wanted.

        • John says:

As you have to travel with someone else on these fares, it shouldn’t be that bad. Unlike BA where you have to climb over a stranger (or sit opposite a stranger if you want to climb over your friend)

  • Michael says:

241 LHR-HKG with Swiss mid Feb – late April Business £998 each sorted.
Ignore “offer not available” on link and click through.
LH site wouldn’t play ball with pretty much any dates and nothing returning after March 20th.
Swiss good until 20th April poss later.

    • John says:

      It’s not a 241…. or it’s a 241 where the regular price for 1 is £2000

Still reasonable amounts of LH tickets left in October/November….

  • Andrew Molloy says:

Is it possible to add an infant to these fares? Tried putting one in on the booking page but says not possible.

    • John says:

Yes, I just did (on LX). Charges 10% of fare, no YQ and full amount of taxes and fees (APD doesn’t apply though)

  • Aston says:

Can you do an overnight stay in Germany or Switzerland before the longhaul leg?

    • meta says:

I’ve seen fares with 15+ hours connections. They might be slightly more expensive. Don’t think longer stopovers are permitted.

    • BlueHorizonUK says:

You can but not on the website. Need to call or use a travel agent.

    • John says:

Only 24 hours or less. As most long-hauls depart late at night and return early in the morning, generally the main options are long day stopovers. Should all be the same price as the shortest possible connection unless booking classes on the short-haul have sold out.

  • Raj says:

Does the offer work with adults and children?

    • Rob says:

If the kid is over 2 then it should do as it is priced as an adult. Not sure how easy it is to add a baby, either during or after booking.

  • Concerto says:

These are no good for one ways, right? I’m looking for a one way to Asia, even in economy.

    • Lady London says:

      Unlikely.
Just try. I would not be surprised if you see 4x the price for a one way, that you would pay for one person as part of a couple on this offer.

  • Mikescores says:

    Morning all
Thanks again Rob – managed to bag three business seats out and three first class back to/from Delhi from London – £1247 each. Don’t know what Swiss is like (see earlier post !!) but at that price ?? Very amused to see economy priced at more than first !!!
