A quick note for Edinburgh visitors that the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor is leaving the chain tomorrow.

It isn’t clear which brand, if any, it will be adopting.

If you have any stays booked here you may wish to change them, especially if you were expecting elite status benefits or points earning.

There are various other options in Edinburgh city centre, including the Waldorf Astoria The Caledonian (where I spent a couple of nights recently, although I didn’t review it), Hilton Edinburgh Carlton, DoubleTree Edinburgh City Centre and Hampton Edinburgh West End.

The hotel website is here – for another 24 hours – if you want to find out more.

OT some podivite hotel news: Checked out of Staybridge Suites Dundee this morning after staying a night to complete accelerate. Just opened a few weeks ago so it’s in great shape but they have done an exceptionally nice job on it. Had a large corner suite with three double aspect windows, spacious, good bed and bedding. Bathroom was a spacious shower, decent towels and toiletries, decor was nice throught, staff were very friendly and pleasant. zonly £49 last night booked at 3 days notice. Did not try breakfast but nice vright breakfast area. Coffee and tea machinecavailable round the clock. Ok location for centre and waterfront. Parking very limitted but lots of street parking opportunities. Highly recommend it, especially in current new condition.

I’m getting sick of these reviews which seems suspiciously like paid reviews by hotel employees.

unless it’s from a regular contributor!

I stayed in the Staybridge a few weeks ago and agree with everything BJ says. On site car parking is expensive, park on the street for free. Those full size bottles of Scottish Fine soaps in the shower were great value!

My room was on points, and although my Spire status was recognised I was given a room on first floor – which turned out to be into the hill with a room view of a footpath, as in the top of the footpath and peoples feet!

That’s cos there are more hotels in Dundee than people to fill them, five opened in past year because of new empty V&A. Soon to be empty hotels but while they are open there are Aberdeen style prices to be had.
