Good ‘airport parking and hotel stay’ deals via little-known IHG link

Most people are aware that – if you need airport parking whilst you are on holiday – it is often cheaper to book a nearby hotel which offers a ‘free parking’ package and stay there the night before. Companies such as Holiday Extras specialise in arranging these.

IHG, the Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza group, also has a pan-European ‘Park, Stay & Go’ offer. It does not always come up when you search local hotels from the main IHG website. You need to book via this dedicated link.

In the UK, the offer covers pretty much every airport – this is not a London-centric deal by any means.

As a test, I looked at Glasgow Airport. I was looking for a hotel stay for one night on Saturday 7th November with up to eight days of car parking included.

The Holiday Inn Express (website here) was offering this deal. The prices were:

Room-only for 7th November: £42

Room with four days of parking: £64

Room with eight days of parking: £76

Room with 15 days of parking: £97

With this deal, you do not leave your car at the hotel. You leave your keys with the hotel and they will store your car offsite and return it to the hotel for collection on the day you come back.

With the Holiday Inn Express 15 day package, your parking effectively costs you £3.80 per day over and above the standard cost of the hotel.

Some of these packages are also available via the main ihg.com website. If you are specifically looking for hotels which offer parking packages, however, it is more convenient to check the ‘Park, Stay & Go’ site here.

I recently did this with the Crown Plaza Manchester and a development of the pandemic was that they weren’t currently moving the cars offsite.

Plenty of hotel + parking options without leaving car keys. At least at Heathrow. And you can stay in the hotel at the beginning or at the end of your travel

    I would never leave my car and keys with anyone at a hotel…so it’s great if you don’t value your car. The best hotel car parking I’ve ever used has to be the Sofitel at Heathrow. Stayed and parked there at least a dozen times. I’ve always rung and negotiated a price

    How much was it total? Whenever I’ve looked it’s about £290 for a night plus a few days parking where you can get a night on last min for £100-120.
    
    Though I’d rather stay at the Langley and pay one of the meet and greet £50.

      Depends on the room type. I usually go for a luxury room with club access for around £180. Then ring or email and get the parking price on top. It’s usually cheaper to do it that way. Plus you only pay for the parking on check in.

Too many reports over the years of cars being borrowed by staff, cars damaged and abandoned or even impounded by creditors of parking company. Never for me since I moved from the banger bracket!

Although by no means available all the time I have found very good deals with airport parking including LHR short term.

Just taken a look at this for our short trip to Gibraltar in February. A night in the Holiday Inn Express T5 and 4 days parking for £69 which sounds decent to me (including breakfast of course).

How easy is it to get from there to T5? Is it on the free bus routes? Thanks.

  The HIX T5 is quite far away from the airport. There is free street parking on the side road opposite the hotel – there is space for about 5 cars which are not in front of anyone’s houses. I left my car there for 2 weeks in 2018.
  
  Breakfast is best skipped and I’m not fussy like some people. I will eat most HIX food but not this one.
  
  Options to T5 are the Heathrow Hoppa or First Slough bus 7. Both around £5 I think.
