The Amex / Amazon ‘£25 off £40’ coupon is working again – even if you’ve used it before

For the last couple of years, Amazon has been offering a generous bribe to anyone with an American Express card which offers Membership Rewards points.

You may not be aware that Amazon lets you pay for your purchases on the UK site with Membership Rewards points. I absolutely do not recommend this, because you are only getting 0.45p per American Express point, but the feature exists.

Have you already registered for the Amazon / Amex offer?

If you have signed up for this feature at some point in the last couple of years, there is some interesting news.

A new Amazon discount code – AMEX25OFF – seems to get you £25 off a £40 order when you part-pay using Membership Rewards points.

For absolute clarity, this code works even if you already got a £15 or £25 discount when you originally linked your American Express and Amazon accounts.

Here is a screenshot I took on Wednesday when I was ordering something for my son:

As you can see, £25 has been deducted from my order. You can also see that I redeemed a grand total of 10p of Membership Rewards points (22 points deducted).

To get this to work:

You need £40-worth of items in your basket which are ‘Sold by: Amazon’

For absolute clarity, anything sold by a third party, even if it is ‘Fulfilled by:’ Amazon, won’t count, neither will digital content or gift cards

If your basket contains multiple items, they must all have identical shipping times and be delivered to the same address

You need to select your Membership Rewards-linked American Express card to pay

You MUST select the option to fully pay with points (bad idea due to the poor value you get) or ‘part pay with points’ (a good idea, redeem 10p-worth as I did!)

You add promo code AMEX25OFF

Does this work if you have not already linked your Membership Rewards and Amazon accounts?

We don’t know.

This is what to do, assuming you have not done this offer in the past:

Link your Membership Rewards account with your Amazon account by visiting this page on the Amazon website – note that this discusses a poorer offer, worth £15 off a £40 spend, which has now closed anyway

Buy £40 of items on amazon.co.uk following the guidelines I listed above

Qualifying credit and charge cards would include:

…. plus Green, Centurion and various cards now closed to new applicants.

You MAY find that the AMEX25OFF code then works. Or it might not ….

Thanks just tried this and it worked for me. May also be worth pointing out if someone did want to use their MR points on amazon that you get slightly more per MR point (0.5p instead of 0.45p) if you just buy amazon gift cards from Amex instead of spending your points directly.

I tried the day before yesterday and it’s worked.

Actually, you only need to pay with the point the lowest amount (£0.01) to qualify the promo code, which is equal to 2.2MR(they will deduct 2 MR Exactly at your account, confirmed today). This saves you 20 MR comparing pay with £0.1(which cost 22MR, consider you need to spend £20 to gain 20MR, this little saving worth it)

Ive been trying since December and never got it to work. When i speak to customer service they just tell me all the codes are used up.

  I don’t like pointing to user error so check:
  – items are eligible (sold by Amazon) and over £40
  – you linked your Amex card to Amazon so that you can pay on MR points
  – you paid a small amount on MR points and the rest on your Amex card
  – you used the AMEX25OFF code
  
  Some sold by Amazon goods do seem to fall foul, to check your eligibility you could fill your basket with various sold by Amazon goods, each over £40, maybe put together a random basket of £200+ (ie testing 5 different sold by Amazon goods) and do a dummy run, if the £25 off appears you know you are eligible.
  
  Newish Amazon a/cs won’t be eligible, there’s always a cut-off date to stop people opening up new a/cs to take advantage of the offer.

      Cat seems to like it. Put it this way: she turns her nose up at any other wet food than Felix or Whiskas now (2 of the dearer ones!) Won’t eat the others unless she’s starting to starve & by that time it’s close to chucking away time.
      
      Which is why getting a year’s supply on the £25 off £40 deal made sense: made it cheaper than supermarket wet food.
      
      Still happy with Lidl 85p/ 950g dry food though 🙂

      I have to cook fresh chicken for one of my cats, she turns her nose up at wet cat food but gives me the stare of death if I’m late with her cat herion aka dreamies.
      The other one will eat wet food but doesn’t like Felix which I find bemusing because he chomps away on several live mice a week, he’s a prolific mouser!

Just used the offer via the HfP link – and got it working. Bought a swing chair for my newborn baby for £45 inc discount. Will now return the one I bought from John Lewis for £80. So an overall £35 saving for me.

  Remember: not *all* sold by Amazon goods seem to qualify, it is a bit hit & miss.
