A good deal with Wheely, the London-based Uber competitor, has appeared on a lot of American Express cards. You need to look under the ‘Offers’ section on the online statement page of each Amex card you have.

You will receive £25 cashback when you spend £25 with Wheely in one ride. You can get the money up to three times until the offer expires on 17th May. It is actually three x £25 credits per Amex card, so you may find that you can get it six or nine times depending on how many of your Amex cards it appears on.

Wheely is equivalent to Uber Exec and Uber Luxe, Its cheapest option is a Mercedes E-Class.

The biggest snag is the need to spend £25 in one ride. It is NOT cumulative and you do not get any credit if you spend under £25. Spend £24 and your net cost is £24. Spend £26 and, with the credit, your ride will only cost £1.

This is not a problem if you are heading to an airport but on shorter trips you cannot be sure you will hit the target. The complex way Wheely calculate fares (an E-Class is £6 + 50p per minute + £1.60 per mile) means that you can’t be certain what you’ll pay. It is certainly worth a look, however.

OT: Continuing the SPG Amex threads, I’ve just received my “30,000 points bonus” from my SPG card and they have transferred 1:1 to Bonvoy points (not the 3:2 that I assumed). I know this has been done to death on here before (I can’t find any of the old comments) but has anyone had any luck getting the correct conversion on the SPG points or shall I just leave it and carry on with my life?

Alex W. That I wasn’t aware of, never even thought about it. So, if I cancel one of my cards that is ‘bad’ news ? If so, I’ll cut if up and just forget it.

      The only reason would be to keep the benefits of the card, cancelling a card can only be seen as beneficial as it means less credit utilisation IMO

      The stand out point for me here is that if you are a regular Tesco delivery customer and pay the monthly Delivery Saver fee, you can’t use that so would have to pay for delivery (presumably on top of the £45 min spend on groceries)

  I thought it was £2.50 = 600 Avios. Is this an error on BAs website (which, lets face it, would not be unusual) or have they increased the rate? The link to the Tesco page suggests its a(nother) BA IT error – Tesco still quoting £2.50 = 600 Avios

    Thanks. Contemplating getting two at once for a close friend and his wife, so they’ll have free access to Plaza Premium T5 on a family holiday, and free breakfast at a Hilton resort. Would then cancel a month or so after. Any flaws in the plan, other than the concept of unauthorised charges being made?
