Etihad is running a 2-4-1 sale at the moment which continues until tomorrow night.

You can travel until 30th November.

Etihad 2-4-1 sale

Deals are available in all classes and include (per person, based on two travelling in Business Class):

  • Abu Dhabi £1,506
  • Bangkok £1,533
  • Singapore £1,765
  • Hong Kong £1,737
  • Phuket £1,734
  • Seychelles £2,111

Availability seems OK.  Even over October half-term (out 25/10, back 3/11) I could find Abu Dhabi at £1,572.  Remember that you need to search for 2+ passengers and that the price shown by the Etihad website is for all of you, not per person.  I was confused by that at first ….

My review of the impressive Business Studio seat on the A380, which is what you will get flying from Heathrow, is here and is pictured above.  There is also a dedicated page on their website here which explains it in more detail.

Your best option to maximise your miles when paying is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold.  This offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.  Our review of Amex Gold is here.

The Etihad UK offers page is here.

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards (December 2021)

Etihad Guest does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Etihad Guest miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cardsThese are:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Etihad Guest miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Etihad Guest mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

Etihad Guest is also a partner with the HSBC Premier Mastercard (0.5 miles per £1 spent) and HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard (1 mile per £1 spent).

£15/1600 each for LHR-BKK is NOT 2-4-1 unless you think Etihad somehow charges an average of £3000+ for a seat, which it does not.

“Normal” prices have risen but are around £1800 as there is a permanent Amex card discount of up to 10%.

OT but my Hilton gold status still has not tracked with Amex after 5 weeks, Amex are now telling me it will be 8 weeks , so I have been told 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks and now 8.
Just wanted to know if anyone else experiencing the same?

  • Gary says:

OT but flight related – does anyone know a way I can get discount on Emirates flights- I only have the 50/200 Amex offer any other ideas? Thanks

OT: IHG buying ‘Six Senses’ hotels and resorts, which I’d never heard of, but that’s probably because I’m not the target audience. 🙂

They seem to be serious about building up their luxury footprint.

OT-ish: I have booked Etihad to Colombo in business later this year. Any advice on where to best to credit the miles? I am usually a BA/One world customer, but flexible if I can put the miles in a FF programme for UK-EU flights. Also planning a trip to South Africa next year so if I can use the miles for intra-RSA flights that is even better. Grateful for any advice/tips.

    • Rob says:

For an easy life, credit to Etihad and then cash them out, for cash, via PointsPay. About 0.6p per mile.

  • Graeme says:

OT – has everyone received their Virgin Life Insurance Flying Club miles yet? We have on one account but not another.

    • Mr(s) Entitled says:

Yup. They where credited a while back (turn of the year?) but back dated to June 2018.

    • Prune says:

received into both accounts around 3 weeks ago

    • Shoestring says:

All good for us. Have you actually checked that on the ‘missing points’ a/c they have actually taken 6 or 7 months’ subs? They didn’t start taking some subs until Sept (promo started in June)

  • Joeb says:

OT. I was wondering what happened to the HFP writer Job Rob was hiring for back in Nov. I looked on the about & contact page but couldn’t see any mention of anyone other that Rob and Anika. I’m sure I must have missed something but could find any posts using the search either…Just curious.

    Related to Helsinki lounges.

If flying BA can I use the Finnair lounge as a silver? The oneworld website seems to suggest that it’s just for Finnair and JAL passengers

    • Amo says:

My wife and I were turned away over New Year as silver members on a flight booked via Finnair but operated by BA, which I felt was harsh. It seemed like the lounge was very busy though and with the recent construction work, half of the lounge was closed.
