Buy 2,000 Avios points for €19 via Groupon Spain

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

I’ve dropped this in as a quick extra article to flag up that the Groupon ‘cheap Avios’ promotion in Spain, with Iberia Plus, is back.  Click here for details.

The reason for running this as an extra article, rather than waiting until Friday, is that the only slam-dunk bargain – the cheapest and best value package of 2,000 Avios package for €19 – usually sells out the day the offer launches.

You are only paying €19 for 2,000 points, which is 0.825p each.

Here are the other prices, which are less of a steal but still cheaper than buying via BA directly:

  • 4,000 Iberia Plus Avios for €54 (1.2p)
  • 8,000 Iberia Plus Avios for €99 (1.1p)
  • 15,000 Iberia Plus Avios for €189 (1.1p)
  • 20,000 Iberia Plus Avios for €249 (1.1p)

You can only buy one of the ‘2000 Avios’ packages but there is more flexibility on the larger ones.

Whilst these deals were administratively messy when they first appeared, I hear far fewer complaints these days.  Of course, all of the information is in Spanish but Chrome can translate the page for you.

The Groupon Spain page you need is here.

  • Optimus Prime says:

If buy them through Iberia Plus Store you’ll also get 3 avios per EUR.

    • Kayleigh says:

The terms and conditions on Iberia Plus store do say they won’t credit extra avios, for Groupon avios purchases, but I did it anyway. The sale tracked at the advertised rate on Iberia Plus Store shortly afterwards, and paid out last week. For reference I purchased at the end of December, so really quick I thought.
As a data point, my vouchers took 9 days to be credited to my Iberia account. I bought two vouchers (20,000 and 4,000) for a specific flight redemption, and both credited successfully.

  • Liam says:

I’ve never bought through Spanish Groupon before so I just bought one set of 2,000 Avios to see how easy it was. Is there any limit to the number you can buy (assuming they haven’t run out)?

    • LewisB says:

Many readers complain when buying multiple that at least one never gets credited.

      • Anna says:

I’m still waiting for my 3rd purchase to credit from early December.

        • Anna says:

Though actually this prompted me to check and they have appeared! So it can take anywhere from 5 days to 6 weeks from my experience.

    • Grant says:

One per customer. I’m assuming that means per registered email address and if you wanted to register multiple accounts you could buy one voucher through each. I’ve not tried this.

      • Liam says:

Thanks. I’ll admit to being a little surprised at the involvement of a Google form as part of the process!

    • rams1981 says:

Terms say can only buy one of the 2k but can buy multiple of the others

  • 1nfrequent says:

Anyone got a simple ‘how to’ for converting the groupon voucher into Avios?

  • stevenhp1987 says:

Quick question. New Iberia account (well, old, never used) for me, new account for my wife.

On my account, can I transfer out straight away, or should I transfer in some Amex points so it’s been credited?

If the later, can I transfer my Amex points to her Iberia account so it’s been credited?

  • Jamain says:

Beware of delys in points being credited….bought one of the 35k points packages recently – points not credited yet, ~1 week overdue.

Groupon support seems OK, but more hassle than it’s worth given this is quite an average offer.

  • David says:

Looks like the 2,000 avios packages have already sold out.

  • Philip says:

I would love to take advantage of this offer again, but I’m currently sitting with a balance of -27000 in my Iberia Plus account from the crazy Iberia offer last year. So any avios I purchased would be soaked up.

Did anyone ever figure out how to circumvent this problem? Or will Iberia perhaps do a bit of “debt forgiveness” and return the balance to zero?

    • Jtz says:

Thinking the same….I think I’m going to ask iberia to remove my account, I still have some who is from.groupon Spain in there but it’s in the minus.
