  • Alan says:

I’m glad to see the BA work experience focuses on wearing a hi-viz vest (as per photo) – I wonder if there are sessions with Cruz himself on how best to wear one, especially in an office during an IT crisis 😛

  • Matthew says:

Off topic: has anyone else got the bonus 1000 Avios for buying Avios via Clubcard under the recent promotion? They should’ve posted by 13th December at the latest according to the T&Cs, but still waiting for mine…not sure who to contact.

    • Anna says:

Quite a few people have mentioned not getting the bonus, including me! I imagine the Clubcard dept would be the one to chase up, I haven’t got round to it yet though I have been chasing Tesco generally over quite a few mistakes recently.

    • Liz says:

No! Will chase up today. The promo was from BAEC so will need to chase them I would assume.

Has anyone received the 1000 Virgin miles from auto converting Tesco – offer was until 14/12.

    • Yuff says:

I transfers £150 from my daughters account to Avios on 30th November, still no sign of the Avios 😡

    • Oli says:

I have transferred from my CC account to 3 BAEC accounts (same surname) which surprisingly worked. Still waiting for the 3 x 1000 bonus Avios

    • LewisB says:

I’ve not had mine, and I specifically came trolling the comments today to see if anyone else had the same issue. Time to contact BAEC.

    • Anna says:

Further to this, a lovely chap from Tesco just called me about issues with my grocery delivery yesterday and I mentioned the bonus avios – he is looking into it and will get back to me!

    • Bonzo2 says:

I contacted Tesco Clubcard last week who said “nothing to do with them” and to contact BA. They gave me a phone number which turned out to be a reservation line anyway some 45 minutes on the phone registered my complaint and told it would be 7 days before I receive a reply. Does anyone have a direct line for BA executive club customer services?

      • Anna says:

The lovely Stuart has just called back and said that Tesco staff have had a memo stating that there has been a technical issue and that the bonus avios should be posted by Friday.

Bonzo2 – it sounds like you got someone who just couldn’t be bothered!

      • Sarah says:

Response from Tesco re 1000 bonus points.

“I’m sorry, we’re experiencing a delay in processing Avios points due to an issue with the data flowing from our system and the Avios system.

They will be added as soon as this is resolved.”

That was last week and haven’t heard anything since.

        Kind regards
        Customer Care

OT Looking at booking 4 nights at RC HK on points. Points are split between wife/my accounts. Would you book 2 nights each and try and link after? Or is there a way to combine the booking?
…. I can’t stay the extra night for 5for4 sadly.

    • Neil says:

Book 2 nights each and then email the hotel to combine the booking! Never had an issue doing it this way before

      • Stu N says:

When you make the booking, guest services will drop you an email offering Club access and a room upgrade for approx HK$2,000. You could get them to link the bookings at that stage.

We took this offer when we stayed and were upgraded to a spectacular harbour view suite. The lounge is excellent and we could have quite happily lived off the food offerings – breakfast was spectacular. Might be a different proposition for a longer stay though as it’s around £200 per night and I’m sure the normal rooms are more than adequate.

When you do stay, make sure you use the pool and visit the terrace at Ozone if it’s open – it’s a great hotel.

It’s Iberia confirming that they will comply with the recent court order and won’t cancel consequent legs of a ticketed flight if you miss the first leg. However, they are working on ways to charge you the difference between what you paid for your original ticket and the amount you would have paid if you’d originally booked the itinerary without the first leg.

  • Matt B says:

Got the Amex offer on both plat and supp cards, looking at 3 nights in Seattle in April to make use of it and maybe stay somewhere normally out of budget.

OT – looking at the status match from Hilton to Wyndham to Total rewards for a trip to Vegas in April. Anyone know if I should wait until the new year or is it fine to do so now? We’ll probably be cancelling the platinum Amex since time in Jan.

    Thanks

    • Rob mc says:

Fine to do it now. Any bookings made through TR at diamond status will have no resort fees even when the diamond status has been dropped.

As Wyndham lasts 90 days and TR drops on the 31st January you could always wait til the 1st Feb to match or try and rematch after this date as they have a partnership together so shouldn’t the status match shouldn’t expire.

      • Matt B says:

Thanks for the response. Will it matter if I have already made the hotel booking and not via TR direct – it is part of a BA holiday package.

        • Mark says:

i submitted my Wymondham-TR status match ages ago (when Rob ran the original article) and it still says ‘we’re working on your request’ any ideas what to do? there is no online chat or email i can see?

        • Rob mc says:

I’m not sure how it works this way as it’s booked through a third party. I would suggest waiting til Feb 1st to do the match and on arrival at the hotel explain you’re diamond

  • Waddle says:

OT: Does one still get a referral bonus if the person who signs up isn’t eligible for a sign-up bonus? Like for example if I refer my other half who signs up to Gold despite having Platinum less than six months ago, she won’t get any sign-up bonus but would I get a referral bonus?

    • MDA says:

Good question wondering the same too

    • MD says:

Based on getting the referral bonus from self referrals, the answer is yes. Recently referred myself for gold from platinum, so obviously not eligible for the gold MR bonus, but still got the 18K referral bonus on the platinum.

      • MDA says:

So you can have both plat and gold? Rather than downgrading

        • Alan says:

Don’t think you can downgrade from Plat to gold anymore as one is a charge card and the other is now a credit card

    • Neil says:

Yes, provided she is approved for the card

      • Neil says:

Sorry MDA – This comment should have been higher up. i don’t know the answer to your question

  • Oh Matron! says:

I’ve also got £100 back with £500 spend at Marriott!

    • MT says:

This is a great offer, it applies to The Ritz in London as well, works for the Ritz Restaurant where its very easy to spend £ 500!

  • Nick says:

Managed to save the Amex travel offer (£50 off for £200) on both me and my partners card. Going to use them to buy some experiences etc as we going to USA for 3 weeks in July. Has anyone ever brought Amex travel experiences before ? Are they reliable to purchas from ?

    • wetboy1uk says:

what cards did you get the offers on. I have not received one single offer re amex travel this year

    • GRIMZ says:

I have used them before but you need to shop around to see if they are actually cheaper even with the offer. I notice they do not sell Universal theme park tickets in Orlando now which is what I would have used the offer for.

    • ankomonkey says:

Yes, bought Disneyland Paris tickets this way a few years ago. No problems and great value with the offer discount.
