  Please can someone advise me on this?

  I have 100k points in my BAEC account. I will shortly trigger my Amex 2-for-1 voucher which I plan to redeem on a long haul flight for my wife and I within the next 18 months.

  My wife has around 30k points in BAEC. I am considering referring her to the BA Amex, so that she can spend 10k in 12 months to trigger a 2-for-1 voucher for her.

  The question is – should I create a household account, so that we can pool our points? What I am unsure of, is, for example, as I am the head of the household and with lots more points (say 150k vs 50k) will my wife’s companion voucher be able to call on all of the points in the household account (so 200k total) or does her companion voucher only apply to “her” 50k points balance?

  I hope that makes sense!

    The way it works is that if only 1 HHA a/c member flies, only that person uses points.

    If you both fly, you use up your a/c points in fair measure (to the points requirement of your respective flights) until somebody runs out of points. Then that person’s points are zero, so they take points from other members of the HHA.

    You can also have zero points but use up any points of anybody else in the HHA a/c

      Thanks – that clears up my biggest concern… If my wife has little or zero points, she can still use points from within the HHA to redeem her 2-for-1

  Would love people’s opinions. Am I being stupid? If I buy c.200,000 points for around £2500 all in, I can fly LHR to HND in First! That seems ridiculous VFM.

    VS miles even better value 😉 I’ve booked LHR-HND return with ANA in F for 120k + £400 😀

        Not sure, sorry – have never bought miles in any scheme. Transfer partner of Amex MR though.
