  My wife has 50k points sitting in her Iberia account. We are trying to move them across to BA but when trying on both sites it says that she is only able to transfer from BA to Iberia. Has anyone else experienced this? (Should probably have sorted this before the avios closure!)

    I had the same problem with the Iberia site last week but avios.com did allow me to transfer them

      Open an Aerclub account that runs on the Avios.com platform. You should then be able to pull the Avios from IB as long as IB account is more than three months old. You can then push them onwards to BA. It’s a known issue if you have a BA Household account.

        Does anyone know if Iberia followed through on their threat of negative balances if transferring to BA following the summer 90k promo? Thanks

        @Genghis – nothing public about this then – I thought they conceded on the transfers? I assume the one thing that won’t happen is that they then disappear from BAEC accounts on 1st Dec?!!

        I received this email on 10 Nov but doesn’t affect me. Still not too clear.

        “We would like to remind you that the Avios you earned in the promotion last June had special terms and conditions, as we pointed out at the time. As such, please note that the promotional Avios obtained during that campaign will no longer be available in your account if you do not redeem them in the Iberia Plus programme before 1 December 2018.

        We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that the programme does not include the transfer of Avios, as indicated in the general terms and conditions.”

        @Genghis I’m struggling to understand that last paragraph, it’s definitely not clear. I transferred my 90k to my BAEC a few weeks back. Hopefully it stays!

        @James – IB never publicly conceded on the negative balance in IB a/c if you transferred to BAEC.

        And if IB Avios scheme joins up with BAEC platform, you risk bringing over -90,000 balance.

    You’ll get 65 days’ notice of it being closed according to a conversation I had with them recently. I would guess they will refund the fee pro-rate. You might be able to trigger another upgrade voucher depending on your spending plans!

      Can anyone report if upgrade vouchers are still being issued? My annual fee is due on the 17th of December and I wouldn’t mind one last cheeky voucher. However without the Avios website, I guess it will be very difficult to keep track if the voucher is issued.

        My card renewal date was mid-September, and I managed to spend the £7k on 27th October. The voucher appeared in my Avios account about 3 days later, and the email arrived about a week later.
        Incidentally, the Avios web site is still working for me, in that I can see I have 0 Avios (all transferred to BAEC now) and the voucher is still visible. The app has been dead for weeks though.

    Flash sales do seem to be prone to put-the-price-up-in-order-to-drop-it-again trick (they also like the sneaky trick of comparing a non-refundable sale rate to a flexible original price). If you see a price/location combo you are happy with I wouldn’t be waiting for the sale worrying about whether it’s in a “sale” or not as this is not necessarily a marker of a bargain.

        I get that but reward availabilty is usually there until it’s used up rather than having a time scale imposed. I guess a cash sale in December would need availabilty.
