A new Hilton cashback offer has appeared on a lot of American Express accounts.  To see if you are targetted, visit the Amex website and take a look under the ‘Offers’ tab on the online statement page for each of your cards.

You will receive £50 cashback when you spend £250 or more at selected UK and European Hilton, DoubleTree, Waldorf Astoria, Hampton, Curio and Conrad hotels before 31st December.  Hilton Paris Opera is pictured below and reviewed here.  The Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol which I reviewed earlier this week is also on.

Not all hotels are participating.  Make sure that you check the list of hotels on the Amex website before booking – it is only UK and European hotels, and not all of them.  In theory you also need to book ‘pay at checkout’ rates to get this deal.  In reality, pre-paid rates will probably also trigger it.

In the past, these offers have been triggered by cumulative spend.  There is no mention of this – so you are not guaranteed to receive it if the £250 is not hit in one transaction – but I suspect you will.

Remember that you still have 11 days to benefit from Hilton’s excellent ‘2500 Miles & More miles on every stay’ promo (click) as well as the current global ‘double or triple points’ offer which runs until 3rd January.

I am feeling a bit jammy because My flight with Qatar from DOH to BKK has changed from a a340 to a380 and seat 30J is now overwing emergency exit row on upper deck .All the other seats on upper deck and emergency exit rows are blocked off . I am wondering if Qatar are likely to move me and allocate this seat to someone else . I am 6 ft 6 and need the legroom ! Cathay and Emirates wanted about £120 per sector for emergency exit row ,Qatar dont charge so i passed my business their way ! Do Qatar still offer airport upgrades for cash at reasonable cost, Y to J ?

So I currently have an AMEX Gold Charge card. Just referred my partner for a BA Platinum.

When she has that, can she refer me for the AMEX Gold credit card? I know I won’t get the points, but would she get the referral bonus?

  • Olly Loosemore says:

This is the first time my groupon.es redemption hasn’t posted the points to my Iberia account with 48 hours. Feeling a little nervous about it

    • Owain says:

I wonder if it might be a more manual process this time – I was directed to a Google form to submit the details of the Groupon this time.

      • Olly Loosemore says:

It’s been like that the last few times. Points arrived in my IB account today, 6 working days after submitting

    • Ron says:

I wouldn’t panic just yet, it does say within 10 working days.

      • Sam G says:

Does anyone know if you are notified by Groupon once the avios hits Iberia? Or do you have to keep checking Iberia each day….?

        • David says:

it has now been 11 working days and no notification or credit to my Iberia account, anyone else facing this problem ?

        • Sam G says:

Hi David – have you tried speaking to Groupon? They have a live chat service….I have now been waiting 7 biz days and i dont feel confident that before 10 days itll be credited. the issue is when i speak to groupon they say wait 10 days… but that seems to be delaying the inevitable…. be interested to see what they say to you now its been over 10 biz days….?

  • GB says:

Can I add the Groupon code directly into my BAEC account or is there an advantage to setting up an IB account too?

    • The Jetset Boyz says:

This is an IberiaPlus promotion, so it’s only possible to credit the avios to an IberiaPlus account.

  • Sam G says:

Just a word of warning – this groupon deal is now proving very difficult – its been over 10 days now and avios still isnt credited. And very little help from Groupon… proving a lot more hassle than its worth for the saving

    • Rob says:

Had a couple of other readers with issues. Shame as the last 5-6 iterations have been ok.
