New Selfridges cashback deal launched by American Express

American Express has launched a new cashback deal in association with Selfridges.
You are likely, but not guaranteed, to find this under the ‘Offers’ tab of your online statement page on your American Express Preferred Rewards Gold or Platinum card. I haven’t seen it on a British Airways card yet but it may be out there.
You receive a £30 statement credit when you spend £100 at Selfridges before 17th November. All UK stores and the website are included.
The rules do not say if cumulative spend counts. It usually does but you can never be 100% certain. Similarly, it says that purchases of gift cards do not count – this is often not the case but of course you do so at your own risk. The offer is limited to the first 12,000 people to register.
There is also a new multi-partner offer available for a lot of people, but not me. This is quite interesting. My wife was offered 7,000 Membership Rewards points on her Amex Gold for spending £250 in October at a combination of:
- Boots
- Expedia
- Currys PC World
- Debenhams
- Made.com
- Nespresso
- Spotify
- Wiggle
Other versions offer 2000 points for £50 spend and 4000 points for £100 spend.
At the moment I don’t see a way of doing this – as a parent, you breath a sigh of relief when your child gets to about 5 as you realise you never need to visit Boots again, having visited three times a week for the last five years – but you never know. One option would be buying a pile of gift cards in Boots for other brands (assuming it isn’t online only, as I haven’t got the rules).
