OT I am only now getting round to combining our Marriott and SPG accounts. I’ve done mine and gone via the SPG site and got a new number and points have combined correctly. My hubby currently has a new SPG credit card and the first months points haven’t transferred yet. Will the points from the SPG Amex card automatically go to the new combined account? Sorry if this has been answered before? Should I wait till the first batch of points appear before combining and getting a new number? I

    • Munch says:

Still waiting for end of July SPG points to transfer from Amex SPG – Amex are quoting mid September. I think a lot of people are waiting so they can cancel the card for the next 6 monthly churn. I haven’t combined my account in case it causes even more confusion? But then again combining the account may accelerate the process?

  • Pogonation says:

No offer at all for me 🙁
I spend about 50-100k/year through amex travel so maybe no need to give me an incentive to book through them!

  • Cat says:

In January when this offer last ran, I booked economy BA flights to Mahe in the Seychelles for £594, and then flights on to Praslin with Air Seychelles to take me past the £600 mark. I got the £200 back for the cumulative spend, and a dirt cheap trip to the Seychelles in the school holidays. It was the same price as booking direct with BA, and also seems wiser than booking direct through the BA website right now…

  • TM says:

Thought I was out of luck as no offer on my SPG, Plat or Costco. By coincidence, had applied for the companion credit card for Platinum and it arrived today. There was a lovely £600 spend offer for Amex Travel waiting for me!

  • Js says:

OT: has anyone actually tried to upgrade their gold (ie new type) credit card using the plat upgrade link?

I know a few people have said it *probably* doesn’t work, but I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone saying this who’s tried it.

    • S says:

It works, but I’ve heard conflicting information on whether you’re getting the bonus MR.

    • Rob says:

      It doesn’t work.

    • CV3V says:

You can’t upgrade from a credit card to charge card.

    • Anon says:

I closed it and applied for a Platinum, via wife referral – was pleased to see that she collected the referral points and then much more pleased to see the spend challenge on my card after a few days – pretty sure I was just lucky though.

    • MarkH says:

Tried it and it doesn’t work

  • Russ says:

I seem to recall you get extra MR points if you book through Amex travel, does it still work with this offer anyone know?

  • Helen says:

Does the offer apply if you book by phone (need to book the flights in a specific selling class)?

  • Paul says:

    OT- Curve
Anyone recently applied for Curve and still waiting for card approval?
It is more than a week now but card still not received.

    • Graham Walsh says:

For my replacement card it should have arrived last week. Chased them and they said there is a big demand at present so could take up to 3 weeks. It did arrive yesterday.

      • Brighton Belle says:

My Curve was hacked. It has taken Curve a month to get me a new one. Still not arrived. Promised 3 times it’s coming. But they do like to tell me how great their customer support is and they’re very busy with new customers.
