A VERY generous Hilton Honors promotion – 2500 Miles & More miles (worth £25) per stay

Back in April Hilton Honors removed its ‘points and miles’ feature. It is no longer possible to earn a mix of Hilton Honors points and airline miles when you stay – the only option is to receive points. You can, of course, still transfer over Hilton Honors points in lumps sums to airline schemes although the transfer rate is poor.

At the time Hilton said that it would continue to run mileage promotions with the airlines. Here is the first one I’ve seen, and it is impressive.

Hilton Honors is offering a very generous 2,500 Lufthansa Miles & More miles on every stay between 1st August and 31st October.

On the face of it this is a very generous deal. I would value a Miles & More mile at 1p – with the caveat that they are only really worth having if you earn enough for long-haul premium class redemptions – which would mean you’re getting back £25 of miles per stay!

Even if you don’t collect Miles & More miles, remember that they can be transferred into Heathrow shopping vouchers via Heathrow Rewards. Details are here (log-in required). 7,500 Miles & More miles gets you £20 of Heathrow shopping vouchers and you get an additional £5 for every 1,875 miles on top.

You will notice that, when you register (click here), you are not asked for your Miles & More account number. I am guessing that Hilton will work from your ‘Preferred Travel Partners’ list in your Hilton Honors profile. Makes sure that your Miles & More account is on that list and, importantly, set to ‘Preferred’. I am guessing that the offer won’t work unless you do this.

I am assuming that you receive these miles ON TOP of your usual Hilton Honors base points and, until 9th September, your bonus from the current Hilton Honors ‘double points’ promotion (details here). There is nothing on the Lufthansa or Hilton websites to suggest otherwise.

The offer is NOT valid on reward stays. The rules are silent on this but reports from those who have registered confirm it.

Here is the small print:

This promotion is open to eligible participants. An eligible participant is a person aged 18 or over and is a Miles & More Member (membership term and conditions apply). To be eligible for this offer, you must be (1) be a member of Hilton Honors; (2)register online at Hilton Honors.com/lufthansa25 prior to completing your stay; and (3) compete an eligible stay at any participating hotel or resort within the Hilton Honors portfolio from 1 August, 2018 through October 31, 2018 (promotional period). Bonus Mileage: Earn 2500 Miles & More award Miles for stays during the promotional period. There are no minimum or maximum amount of stays. A ‘stay’ is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again. Specifically excluded from the definition of ‘stay’ are the following types of ineligible stays: wholesale/tour operator packages; contracted crew rates; travel agency discount rates; stays secured utilising Hilton Grand Vacations Club, and Hilton Club timeshare programs; Hilton Grand Vacations marketing packages with a sales presentation requirement, complimentary or barter rooms; NET Group rates, Series Group or IT Group rates; third party websites bookings (irrespective of rate paid); and ‘opaque’ channel bookings where the brand may or may not be known at the time of purchase. Hilton Honors Points (or stay credit) may not be earned (including as a Member benefit) for or during ineligible stays, including without limitation, folio charges incurred during ineligible stays. Allow up to six weeks after check-out, and after promotion has ended, for miles to be credited to your account. All Miles & More program rules apply. Hilton Honors™ membership are subject to Hilton Honors Terms and Conditions. Award miles are issued subject to the Miles & More Terms and Conditions. The promoter reserves the right to withdraw the promotion or amend these terms and conditions without prior notice at any time, for whatever reason and without any liability to customers for doing so.

If this all works out as planned, with no impact to your base and bonus Hilton Honors points, this is a VERY generous offer. Anyone who does a lot of short cheap Hilton stays can do very nicely out of this.

To put it in context, a one-way Business Class flight to Dubai booked via Miles & More costs 35,000 miles. If you averaged one Hilton stay per week over the promotional period you’d nearly have enough for that.

Even if you end up redeeming them for Heathrow Airport shopping vouchers, you are getting £7 back per Hilton stay.
