Get a 75% bonus when you buy Radisson Rewards hotel points

Radisson Rewards, the loyalty scheme for Radisson, Park Plaza and Park Inn, is offering a 75% bonus when you buy points, however few or many points you buy.

This deal does potentially offer value if you redeem in the right places on expensive nights.

The maximum number of points you can purchase is 70,000 (40,000 + 30,000 bonus) for $280. That is £200.

The key London hotels such as Park Plaza Westminster Bridge – a relatively new London property with a pool and next to the London Eye, London Dungeon, London Aquarium etc – are 70,000 points per night, so £200. I reviewed that hotel here.

The May Fair (which I reviewed here, and didn’t like much) is also 70,000 points.

At the more prosaic end of the scale, there are various Park Inn budgets hotels around the UK for 15,000 points per night. Under this promo, 15,000 points would cost you £43 based on the pro-rata price of 70,000.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (December 2021)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards. These include:

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 60,000 Radisson Rewards points. This card is FREE for your first year and also comes with two free airport lounge passes.

The Platinum Card from American Express (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 30,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 90,000 Radisson Rewards points

American Express Rewards credit card (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 5,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 15,000 Radisson Rewards points. This card is FREE for life.

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate. The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Hi all

I’m fairly new to this website, and now I think I understand the best ways to utilise points for flights, I’m a bit clueless when it comes to hotels.

I’m planning to take my wife to NYC in Autumn 2019 as an anniversary present and would like to stay in a really nice hotel for 4/5 nights. Does anyone have any suggestions on which hotel reward schemes are worth looking into to help find a good way to collect and spend points for this trip?

  We’re staying at the Conrad next month (Hilton Honors) paying 80k a night (that’s after I’ll have been in Midtown for a couple of weeks working and Mrs G there for a few days). What you decide on might depend on how you earn your points. Rob did a good article recently and suggested Essex House (Marriott) but given changes with the programme and you wanting a hotel for Autumn 2019, I don’t suspect it will look so cheap when you come round to booking.

  Conrad New York, a Hilton brand, is probably the best redemption because it is a) very nice and b) all suite. However, with the Hilton credit card no longer available, it is a lot trickier to get the points.
  
  If you have substantial credit card then the IHG Premium Mastercard is OK – £99 but a free night when you spend £10k in a year (voucher triggered after 12 months, not earlier). That would get you 2 nights (if you got a card each and put £10k on each) at one of the InterContinentals for eg, Barclay IC is classier. You’d also get enough sign-up and spend points to get a 3rd night. This is not a free option, however, with a £99 card fee and heavy spend needed to get the bonus.
  
  Apart from that I’d suggest sticking with convertible Amex Membership Rewards points. You can turn these into Hilton, Starwood or Radisson Rewards points and if you end up paying cash for a hotel you can move the Amex points into Avios or something else.
  
  I would also point out that BA Holidays has EXCEPTIONAL packages to New York much of the time. 3-4 nights in a 4-5 star hotel, plus Club World flights, is often £1300ish per person. That is ludicrously cheap. Promos come and go (we usually write about them when on) but even on a ‘normal’ day the packages are good.

    Using the 5th night free Hilton perk, it seems 5 nights at the Conrad would cost 320k points, which seems like a good deal. I think I might continue to focus on Amex MR points, which will then give me the option to convert to Hilton points, unless a better opportunity comes along.
    
    I’ll also check out the BA packages, as a decent deal there would allow us to use the Amex 241 for another trip 🙂
