Leeds Bradford International Airport is to open not one, not two but three new airport lounges this week.
Full details on the airport website here.
Regular HfP readers will know that Manchester Airport has been slowly building up its in-house lounge capacity. Instead of letting in third parties groups such as No 1 or Aspire, it has created its own brand, Escape. It also opened a luxury lounge, 1903, in Terminal 3 last year which I reviewed here.
Leeds Bradford has presumably decided that anything Manchester can do, it can do better. But has it bitten off more than it can chew? We have already seen British Airways reduce its services to the airport in recent months and that was probably the most premium carrier it had.
This is what will open on Wednesday:
The Yorkshire Lounge
- Treat yourself to our leisure lounge
- Sit back and enjoy the runway view
- Delicious snack menu
- Open bar serving soft drinks, wine, beers and spirits
- Selection of speciality teas, Yorkshire Tea and Fair Trade coffee
- Relax and unwind with newspapers and magazines
The White Rose Suite
- A relaxing retreat for business and leisure
- Enjoy the excellent runway view
- Barista coffee made to order, selection of speciality teas and Yorkshire Tea
- Freshly prepared buffet food
- Open bar serving wines, local craft beers and premium spirits
- Relax and unwind with newspapers and magazines
- Dedicated washroom
The 1432 Runway Club
- A first-class lounge experience
- Admire superb runway views
- Made to order hot food menu including local speciality pies and cheese boards
- Premium drinks range including Prosecco, quality wines, spirits and local craft beer
- Selection of Fair Trade coffees, speciality teas and Yorkshire Tea
- Relax and unwind with newspapers, magazines and television
- Dedicated washroom
Pricing appears aggressive, especially as none of them seem to offer champagne:
The Yorkshire Lounge – £24.95 adults, £15.95 children (3-11)
The White Rose Suite – £29.95 adults, £21.95 children (3-11)
The 1432 Runway Club – £34.95 adults, £27.95 children (3-11)
Priority Pass and Lounge Club guests can use The White Rose Suite, which is interesting as I would have assumed they would have sent people to the cheapest option.
The lounges accept incoming guest from 5am to 6pm. There is no entry after 6pm and the lounges close at 8pm.
