Hilton and American Express launch a new ‘£50 back on £250 spend’ hotel cashback deal

A new Hilton cashback offer has appeared on a lot of American Express accounts.  To see if you are targetted, visit the Amex website and take a look under the ‘Offers’ tab on the online statement page for each of your cards.

You will receive £50 cashback when you spend £250 or more at selected UK and European Hilton, Doubletree, Waldorf-Astoria, Curio and Conrad hotels before 11th June.  Hilton Paris Opera is pictured below.

Hilton £50 cashback offer

Not all hotels are participating.  Make sure that you check the list of hotels on the Amex website before booking – it is only UK and European hotels, and not all of them.  In theory you also need to book ‘pay at checkout’ rates to get this deal.  In reality, pre-paid rates will probably also trigger it.

In the past, these offers have been triggered by cumulative spend.  There is no mention of this – so you are not guaranteed to receive it if the £250 is not hit in one transaction – but it is likely to work.

Hilton has a week-long flash sale starting on Tuesday so you may want to save your bookings until then.  We will bring new more details next week.

SPG point buying discount ends on 16th.

    Has anyone already bought points?
I am seriously considering buying points to reach another Marriott travel package

OT: What should I expect to pay in a taxi between Abu Dhabi and the airport at DXB? How long is the journey mid-morning on a Friday?

    • cat steele says:

Hi Jovanna I have recently done this taxi trip and it cost around £70 and took about 1hr 20 .No need to prebook. Hope this helps 🙂

    • Rob says:

Friday is weekend so low traffic. I would estimate 1 hour and £40.

  • Craig Strickland says:

Just wondering if the offer coupled with the sale which states, ‘Full prepayment is required at time of booking. Your credit card will be charged immediately for the total amount quoted for the entire stay as reserved.’ will work for me. I’m trying another status match and I have two reservations for central London in July which combine at over £250.

    • TGLoyalty says:

As long as they are participating and charge the card before the AMEX offer ends

  • Craig Strickland says:

Just asked Avios using the chat function and was told it is an expired offer.

  • zephyr148 says:

OT – AMEX cross-referrals. My OH is using his Platinum card to refer me. How do I apply for the Starwood Card from his referral link? Any help much appreciated!

  • Alan says:

Anyone else not got this offer? No sign of it on my Plat card…

    • Rob says:

It is on my Plat but not BA or SPG.

      • Lee says:

        On my platinum (secondary)
On my BAPP (secondary) (brand new card)

Not on any primary card for either of us.

I have noticed that a lot of offers have vanished as well.

        • Crafty says:

Check the desktop site not the app (if that’s what you’ve used). Hardly any offers show on the app for me. Makes the newly updated app useless as I have to use the website to complete all my tasks.

        • Alan says:

@Crafty – top tip, thanks!! Is showing on the website for my Plat now – didn’t realise the app was so rubbish it didn’t show available offers. I can’t view my additional card though (AC account) on the website though, which I used to be able to do – will ask Amex via chat what’s going on with offers on there now as used to be able to add them to both.

  • Andrew says:

OT as bits: Saw that the 25% bonus to Iberia does appear to be working for UK cards so going to transfer my points over. Feel there’s nothing to lose as would be transferring into BAEC anyway. Just wondering, can mulitple Amex MR points transfer into the same Iberia account? Hoping to transfer from my mum’s account too (different name and address). Alternatively, if I create her an Iberia account is it ok to transfer from MR to her Iberia, then straight away to her BAEC (and therefore my HHA)? The 90 day rule is only about making repedemptions and transferring in points from BAEC and Avios right? Thanks in advance!

  • Craig Strickland says:

There is a list of participating hotels, none in Asia. Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland & UK with most of the hotels taking part being in the UK.

    • Roger says:

I have stays coming up in Singapore but none of those hotels are not on the list too!

Might end up using my Marriott travel package at JWM.
