  • Tim says:

On the fees: too little too late by BA. But it does show the power of government over business. A next step for governments is to regulate reward schemes by insisting points, such as Avios, have a cash value. Thus putting to an end excessive devaluations. which typically follow ‘buy 10,000 Avios points for £50’ etc., for the following week BA too announce that lavatory fees on their new cattle carrrying planes will cost 10,000 Avios points a go…. 🙂

    • RichS says:

Such regulation of reward points would just mean companies would close or massively reduce their schemes. They wouldn’t want to have the liability of fixed value, it would create too much risk for it to be worth their while running.

    • J says:

I can imagine this happening, but primarily so we would have to declare miles/points as income and pay tax on the cash value.

    • Callum says:

How is that a good thing? That would effectively force it to become a revenue based system – I.e. the type everyone hates…

  • Rich says:

Booked last night on ba Web site at 2115 and still had to pay credit card surcharge

  • Matt says:

Also there is an amex offer for £100 off a £800 spend.

  • ee says:

OT – has anyone successfully put through multiple transactions to trigger the Amex offers for spend £200 at Amex Travel or spend £100 at BA.com?

    • Paul says:

Not a complete answer but I paid for two flights totalling £300 for me and my gf. Amex charged me for them separately and I got the offer was triggered

  • Talay says:

Etihad underwhelming again, ahead of the devaluation due on 15th January.

Qatar website very volatile in prices last night / early this morning. 3 x tickets out to BKK jumping from €3000 up to €7000 plus as the algorithms sensed similar repetitive searches, despite using a VPN for some etc.

Can anybody help!? Rob? I’ve set up alerts and paid for the subscription, but I’m not receiving any emails? I’ve tried to email Tim but no response!

I’ve been checking the last few days manually, and flights are becoming available, but I’m not getting any emails (I’ve checked the junk mail!)

Eg. Yesterday LON-MIA (2xBus) was upto 29th Dec, today it’s upto 30th, but no email!

    • Adam says:

Have you checked your spam MAIL box, mine all went in there.

      • S***o says:

Yup, I only have a Junk and Trash folder.
I only received confirmation emails of set up alerts for some of the flights, not all as well, maybe I’ll clear them all and start again.
Anybody know if there’s a limit?

    • @mkcol says:

My automated emails from the site & manual emails from Tim have come through fine.
      Try tweeting him.

      • S***o says:

Re-selected all of the alerts and have had confirmation emails – so hopefully sorted.
Not sure where I was going wrong!

  • Iain says:

Anyone else win 10k BA avios from Charles T? Was a surprise didn’t even get an email from them worth checking

  • ankomonkey says:

Now the surcharge has gone I can sell my holiday home in the Ukraine.

    • Rob says:

Indeed. Since Crimea got invaded I have been less happy about keeping mine too.
