The Qatar Airways flight sale starts today – save an extra 5%

The Qatar Airways sale starts today – see the sale home page here – and will run for a week.

In recent years this has been the most aggressive sale we saw, with fares (out of Europe, not out of London) of £1000 or less to many places.

Remember that Qatar Airways runs a fantastic business class service and you earn Avios and tier points when you fly with them as they are a BA partner.  A return flight to Asia earns 560 BA tier points which is over 90% of a BA Silver card.

Qatar Airways sale

I will do a full report tomorrow or Thursday as soon as I can get through the data.

However …. if you want to book a sale flight departing from the UK, I have a special 5% discount code which can be stacked with the official sale fares.

The code is UKGTBAFFILIATE and is good for bookings made by 16th January.  You must book via this sale page of the Qatar Airways website – click here.

  • Save East Coast Rewards says:

“One thing that is not clear is whether, if you pay cash, these services count towards the four British Airways flight segments you need to take each year to retain status.”

Isn’t it very clear? Anything with a BA code counts for the flight segments!

HFP members considering a stay at Corinthia and whether to take out a GHA may appreciate hearing about my recent experience.

I booked Corinthia St George’s in Malta as part of a BA Holidays sale for October 2017. Being a booking via BA and having no membership in Discovery at the time of booking, I was not expecting any special treatment.

I read about the Platinum Discovery status gained via the £35 subscription to Business Traveller here on HFP. So I subscribed, got my membership number and about week ahead of the trip made the hotel aware of it.

When we arrived, we had received a minor room class upgrade, but more importantly an upgrade to the Executive floor with access to the Executive lounge. I’m pretty sure that during the course of our 8 day stay, my partner and I recouped the £35 via free beer, wine and food (food was albeit a little limited).

As Rob says, Corinthia St George’s isn’t “opulent” but it’s a good 4* option with decent customer attentiveness.

QR Sale…Is it me or is it just not loaded yet fully the sale fares but they seem more expensive than previous year?

  • G says:

OT: I have hit spend on Amex Gold and was looking to upgrade to Plat. I have an Amex Travel offer saved on the Gold. Would it still be there if I upgrade or does it get removed?

Need to book some flights so would like them to count towards the Plat £1k spend requirement if possible whist getting the cash back

    • David2910 says:

I upgraded ny BA to BAPP amd my 1500 avios offer remained on the card. Took a day to turn up after the card turned black online.

Another data point, referred from my Amex Platinum to BA Prem Plus for the wife and received 18k Amex points!
Though she hasn’t been able to add it to her existing online account and it’s asking to set-up a new account, anyone else had this?

    • Kinkell says:

My husband had to set up a new account.., so he now has 2! CS said not possible to amalgamate. Such a pain!

      • CBoy says:

Try a different agent as I had this issue when activating a new card and I called CS and they were able to remove it so I could add it to my original online account.

I believe this happens as it takes a few days for their IT systems to get up to speed when a new card is issued so it might be advisable to wait a few days before activating a new card.

        • Stu N says:

Thanks – looking to do a Plat to BAPP referal imminently so good to have another data point.

Regarding 2 Amex online accounts, they can be merged but it is a hassle to do so – try another agent. When I had this issue they said if it won’t work online it’s better to call to activate the card and add to existing account. Apparently that’s much easier than sorting it out later if you create a second account.

        • Polly says:

Same here. Eventually had to stick with the Newer account..agent has to do it. Depends on their experience..its a pain. Used to just be able to activate and add on…

        • MarkH says:

I think some have mentioned previously this tends to happen when applying over a weekend so I’ve always avoided it and never had any issues activating the new card and adding to existing online account. Might just be lucky though.
