The Qatar Airways flight sale starts today – save an extra 5%

The Qatar Airways sale starts today – see the sale home page here – and will run for a week.

In recent years this has been the most aggressive sale we saw, with fares (out of Europe, not out of London) of £1000 or less to many places.

Remember that Qatar Airways runs a fantastic business class service and you earn Avios and tier points when you fly with them as they are a BA partner.  A return flight to Asia earns 560 BA tier points which is over 90% of a BA Silver card.

Qatar Airways sale

I will do a full report tomorrow or Thursday as soon as I can get through the data.

However …. if you want to book a sale flight departing from the UK, I have a special 5% discount code which can be stacked with the official sale fares.

The code is UKGTBAFFILIATE and is good for bookings made by 16th January.  You must book via this sale page of the Qatar Airways website – click here.

  • JAXBA says:

“I don’t know whether, if you ring the BA call centre, they can book them for you at the standard RFS rates.”

Yes they can, although there may be some initial pushback.

One thing that is not clear is whether, if you pay cash, these services count towards the four British Airways flight segments you need to take each year to retain status.”

    Yes they do.

These aren’t codeshares in any way, shape, or form. They are BA flights that just happen to be operated by borrowed aircraft and crew.

  • N says:

Generally how long till Qatar sale fares are plugged into the ITA Matrix?

    • Radiata says:

Desired bookings entered into ITA this morning do pop up (ex-EU to South South Africa) all in R bucket (viz. Business Promo). Less than £1300 return. Strangely though choosing precise flights manually on Qatar site yields a fare of £2k and via OTAs oft cannot find the flights at all.

A question to all: how best would one suggest trying to book an ITA itinerary these days? Have Propeller or any other travel agent done so with any ease whether or not online options elude?

  • Js says:

The Qatar sale seems to be more permanent than the DFS ones…

  • Mike says:

Read about that yesterday. “Where there’s a will there’s a way” doesn’t come as any surprise tbh.

  • Andrew M says:

OT. Has anyone targeted for the enhanced 3:1 Amex MR to Hilton Honors transfer rate done a transfer? And, if so, did the bonus points arrive at the same time? Told by Amex the bonus points may take up to 8 weeks to arrive. Thanks.

    • Doug M says:

Yes I have and no they don’t. Waited only 1 week so far but no bonus yet.

      • Andrew M says:

Thanks Doug. Has anyone else had the bonus points arrive yet and, if so, after how long? Thanks.

    • John says:

Up to 8 weeks was what the original email said

    • Scott says:

Another one here who got the standard 2x points within a few days, but not the bonus after a couple of weeks. Haven’t chased it yet.

    • Tracy says:

Transferred 7th Dec, still waiting on the bonus points, haven’t chased yet

  • Andrew says:

The “Just Eat” logo is a great way to identify potential real-time takeaway discounts.

“Just Ask” at the counter, if you pop in, for 10% for not buying on-line.

  • Ian says:

The Qatar sale is a funny one this time. I’m based in Warsaw and looking at flight options to Jakarta. It’s actually £800 cheaper for the business class return to fly from London than it is from Warsaw. It also means a much nicer seat! The business class A330 on the WAW-DOH leg is rather cramped!

  • Jack says:

Quick OT: does anyone know for certain if a £100+ car hire bought on ba.com will trigger the 1500 avios BA AmEx offer – I assume the purchase goes through as BA.com but wondered if anyone is sure.

The rental is £102 which is same as elsewhere, then I should get this 1500 plus apparently a 250 bonus for paying with BA AmEx which is what has thrown me because I figure it must show on your statement in a particular way for the 250 to be applied. And some extra avios (700?) for the 3 day rental, apparently.

    Thanks

    • Pid says:

Should work. I paid off a £100 on a pre-booked flight hotel package and it triggered the bonus,
