Happy Christmas to you and your family. I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are.

Do please post below if your travels have taken you anywhere exciting this Christmas.  I am in London with the in-laws.  Anika is in Hamburg with her family.

Head for Points is taking a two day break. We will be back on Wednesday 27th with a review of my travel highlights and lowlights of 2017.

If you want something to read in the meantime, take a look under the ‘Favourite Articles‘ tab where you will find my pick of the most relevant pieces published in 2017, including our (in need of updating) ‘Avios Redemption University‘ series and all of our credit card reviews.

If you collect Avios via Tesco Clubcard, you may also want to take a look at the recent articles over at our sister site Shopper Points.

Thank you for your support over the past year.

Very late to the party but Happy Christmas! Only been reading this site since June but thanks Rob, Anika and everyone for all the useful tips these past 6 months. Looking forward to my first ever flights on avios in First and CW booked for next year.

  • Chris says:

Merry Christmas all and thanks for the helpful advice over the year, the points are getting there and fingers crossed me and the girlfriend will be flying off first class sometime soon.

Ot – upgraded from gold to platinum charge card. Had the card since mid last week and I haven’t been charged the £450. Does anyone know when it would normally be charged? I know that some people don’t get charged until the end of year one of their gold card.

    Thanks.

  • Optimus Prime says:

OT – regarding the £200 Amex Travel statement credit: do they charge your card at the moment even if booking a refundable rate? I’m asking because it’s time to cancel my Amex Plat and was wondering if I can book, get the credit and then cancel.

Merry Christmas to Rob and all. I am in New York City for the holidays, used a BA 2 for 1 and flew first class! Wouldn’t have been possible without Rob and HFP! HFP is my first read every morning, and an invaluable resource for me. I was explaining to my other half some of the crazy things I have done to get these flights such as renting a car and parking it in my drive for the weekend haha. All the best for the new year!

  • Richard says:

Can you change the xmas break picture? For me, Alex Cruz in a high vis symbolises “nothing is happening here for a couple of days”

    • Rob says:

I am using that picture tomorrow!

      • GnarlyOldGoatDude says:

Don’t mind me, Rob, I’m amused that you roll out my picture every year. It reminds me of the good old days when I could actually travel.
        All the best, Charles.

  • Johan says:

Merry Xmas Rob, Anelka and all HfP readers from Cartagena, Colombia! I flew down to Panama with Iberia, flying home from Bogota. I echo the comments on Iberia staff although I did like the food Iberia served and the comfortable biz class seat.
I was planning to use hotels points for most accomodation but managed to get some excellent BRG so will use points on another trip.

  • Mr Dee says:

Merry Christmas point collectors, collecting my points like scrooge but looking to spend a large chunk soon
