Happy Christmas to you and your family. I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are.

Do please post below if your travels have taken you anywhere exciting this Christmas.  I am in London with the in-laws.  Anika is in Hamburg with her family.

Head for Points is taking a two day break. We will be back on Wednesday 27th with a review of my travel highlights and lowlights of 2017.

If you want something to read in the meantime, take a look under the ‘Favourite Articles‘ tab where you will find my pick of the most relevant pieces published in 2017, including our (in need of updating) ‘Avios Redemption University‘ series and all of our credit card reviews.

If you collect Avios via Tesco Clubcard, you may also want to take a look at the recent articles over at our sister site Shopper Points.

Thank you for your support over the past year.

Merry Christmas all. I hear Santa flew back home (Finnair J using Avios obtained on Lego from Tesco – he finally got rid of the last Lego packs today) once his jobs were done.

Thanks to all at HFP. You guys are great. Sitting on roof terrace in Santiago Chile . 32degrees beer in hand and all down to your ideas.

Came via Iberia and Madrid last night. Two observations. IB cabin crew not a patch on BA CW team for attentiveness and professionalism.
Secondly I saw a genuine first in forty years of travelling . Two passengers had their dog in the cabin, head poking out of a nylon bag with a nappy on. Little rat yipped on and off for 13 hours. Crew said it was common! Be warned, you may save on the taxes but there may be drawbacks.

That’s really interesting. I personally find BA and Iberia have one similarity: the inconsistency of the onboard experience and the crew: sometimes great, sometimes poor. I had a fantastic outward journey to Cuba on Iberia, the return journey was bordering on dire. I think the business class hard product on Iberia is generally much better though.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

My 2017 included my first ever 2-4-1 with a F redemption to Mumbai, as well as trips to Prague, Edinburgh, Cannes & St Lucia. next year we’re off to Mauritius, Bermuda and then hopefully another 2-4-1 in F to New York! I’m sure a few smaller weekends away too.

My thanks and gratitude to Rob & team.

My first 2-4-1 was to Mumbai too (although we open jawed back from Dehli). I remember scouring BA flights for the longest F journey during daylight hours (and somewhere we particularly wanted to visit)!

        Wow Lewis! Sounds incredible!

I loved Mumbai, it was really interesting to me. As a bit of a street food addict, it certainly kept me full with some amazing food I’ve never seen elsewhere! We did the night flight to Mumbai, but made full use of the Concorde lounge beforehand and had the best nights sleep I’ve ever had on a plane after maybe a few too many glasses of LPGS!

A bit late in the day but many thanks to Rob and the team – HfP is my first read of the day. Picked up lots of tricks and tips here (not forgetting other readers who post great ideas). 100% leisure travel these days (actually for the last few years). Next year Hong Kong (Rugby 7s), Australia, Vietnam Burma, St Lucia and just booked Sicily to Catalonia (BA Hol).

  • fbrj says:

*Oooops above – Catania not Catalonia!!

  • Yorkieflyer says:

Merry Christmas Rob, Anika and all from a long time lurker and avid reader, HFP always first site of the day. For me HFP is the first place to go after the demise of BMI and my waning interest in the clique of the BA flyertalk pages. Anyway I digress whilst sat on our AirBnB terrace overlooking Grande Anse beach after a 241 BA AMEX to Grenada and back from Barbados after New year

I agree with many of the comments below: Head for Points is one of very few websites I read most days. The comments always make me smile too! Happy Christmas all and I’m looking forward to many more points collecting opportunities in 2018! Hopefully I will meet some of you next year!
