Here is some more information on the new Qantas lounge in Heathrow Terminal 3, which will can be used by qualifying British Airways passengers flying through the terminal.

Rob’s initial thoughts and photos from the launch party are in this article here but we thought you might also like to read some extracts from the official press release and some professional images.

“After a 12 months long building phase the new Qantas Lounge at Terminal 3 will open tomorrow [ie today, Wednesday] at 8am.

The lounge was part of a multi-million dollar investment project which also includes the upcoming launch of Qantas’ non-stop London-Perth flight starting on 25th March 2018.

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said “[Qantas] is reshaping what customers come to expect from international travel with direct flights between Australia and London. It’s a long flight, so we’re taking a holistic approach to passenger wellbeing on and off the aircraft, and the new Heathrow lounge is an important part of that”

“Designed by Woods Bagot, the interiors reflect London at twilight with deep greens and rich blues throughout the furniture, while warm-coloured timbers, stone and brass represent the historic architecture of the city.”

Usual boring question I’m afraid but do we know if/what champagne they serve?

  • krys_k says:

Can CE flying from T3 use the Cathy lounge?

  • Matt says:

OT – have anyone received Clubcard points for the nowtv offer at the weekend? Mine not posted yet and I can see the offer has been pulled

    • Richard G says:

They were part of the process no? I’m sure mine showed at the checkout stage.

Interestingly, on the clubcard site that transaction shows:

      Transaction value: £3075.00
      Total points: 3075

      I definitely didn’t spend £3k on nowtv boxes. 😀

  • WilliamPH says:

My wife is currently in the new Qantas lounge in T3, and has been relaying her comments to me. She has a heavy cold, and the staff have been very helpful, offering her a ginger tea with honey and lemon, and being much more friendly than is usual in the BA lounge. She had a very tasty chicken curry dish. After buying my Lagavullin she went into the BA lounge to try to snaffle a few gluten free biscuits for the trip, but was told that they don’t have any biscuits – plus it was very crowded, so she has returned to the Qantas lounge. She asked me “Why are there so many people in the BA lounge when they could come in here?”, so I told her that not everyone reads HFP!

    • Darren says:

I may have missed this but is it a mixed lounge or segregated in some way?

      • WilliamPH says:

I think you missed something – I’m in Vancouver, she’s about to board BA85 after a quick visit to London

        • WilliamPH says:

And she has just sent me another message to say that she gives it 5 stars for their gluten free olive oil and chocolate cake!

        • Darren says:

Posted in your thread incorrectly, hope she has a nice trip.

      • Rob says:

        Men upstairs, women downstairs.

No, mixed. That is why it is better for BA Silver / Club pax than Cathay and possibly worse for BA Gold / First passengers, because the Qantas lounge sits in the middle.

    • Peter K says:

That gluten free cake sounds awesome!!! Having been to Oz a few years back they certainly seem to know about gluten free over there (and have stricter laws governing it).

  • TripRep says:

    O/T: But OW Lounge related.

Whats the best OW lounge for a BA CW flight from KUL to LHR?

    • Nick Burch says:

KUL is a bit of a mess at the moment, as the main Malaysian lounge is closed for refurbishments, and the replacement “SIP” lounge is pretty terrible

If you don’t want a shower, and can get in, probably the CX in the satellite terminal is your best. If you need a shower, or CX is full (it’s not huge), head on the shuttle train over to the main terminal (short quick ride) and visit the Malaysian Regional lounge (on your right upstairs as you get off the shuttle)

  • Lady London says:

Well Rob all I can say is reviewing these lounges is a tough job but someone’s got to do it.

    • the real harry1 says:

didn’t know you could have 2 wives in the UK, Raffles! 🙂

still, send them both out to work, well done lol

      any plans for a third?

  • Mikee says:

Don’t forget, if you are Virgin Flying Club Gold, you can access the Virgin Clubhouse in T3 no matter what airline or class of travel you are ticketed on. I have flown BA economy a number of times and always chose this lounge over the Oneworld lounges.

As BA Gold, any thoughts on whether the Qantas lounge beats the Clubhouse?….my feeling is probably not but would be interested in any comparisons.

  • Jamie says:

I’m in the lounge this evening – it is indeed nice, new and fresh. Nice theme going on too.

Couple of thing to note – not many power ports! There are some by the windows on the upper floor, inc USB ports.

Al La Carte Dinner does not start until 17:30…so if you’re flight leaves about 6pm, you’ll have to make do with the buffet which is nice.

Tonight vegetarian buffet item is vegetable biriyani – much nicer than it first appears and Qantas Salads, inc. Avocado.

    Nice wines too.
    I’m happy.
