  Across our accounts we got
  2 x 1000 MR on gold cards
  1 x 1000 on BA blue
  1 x 500 on BA black
  Nothing on any supplementary cards

  No offer on any of my 5 cards. However, 1000 avios added to BAPP through Live Chat.

  Amex “Chat currently busy”

  What a farce this is. They remove the very useful online messaging facility and replace with this guff. I have informed Amex of my dismay – I suggest others do also in the hope that they reconsider their folly.

    I lingered on the old email inbox page for a minute or two and a chat bubble popped up at the bottom.

    I think they deliberately aren’t showing chat as being available to try and force people to resolve their own queries through FAQs.

  The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of the offer:
  ·        transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the merchant’s goods through a third party department store);
  ·        transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);
  ·        transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
  ·        transactions where the merchant does not pass on the information we need to process it properly within the offer period (for example, when their payment systems are down and they cannot process the transaction electronically)
  ·       *** transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.***

  I’ve got an email confirming my purchase but saying I only get the 1,000 points IF it meets the T & Cs, and it looks as though it doesn’t.

    Guess I’ll have to make a payment through Amazon before the deadline of 17/9 if gift cards don’t qualify’!

  The article seems to provide conflicting info on if gift card purchases count or not. Can someone clarify please?

      I think you can safely assume that they will say that it will not count in accordance with T&C.
      However, the credit may turn up!

    Can’t imagine Amex will know what the purchase was for so would have thoughts points would post. Still plenty time to purchase something else if they don’t.
