No conversion bonus, but win a share of 1 million Avios with Clubcard

Anyone who was hoping for a conversion bonus of Tesco Clubcard points to Avios this quarter (but is anyone still that optimistic?!) will be disappointed.

We don’t know what the ba.com offer will be yet, but avios.com has launched another competition.

This is how it works:

For every £2.50 of Clubcard vouchers you convert via avios.com (not ba.com) before 31st August, you will receive one entry in the prize draw

Two people will win 50,000 Avios

Three people will win 25,000 Avios

150 people will win 5,500 Avios

Winners will be notified by 7th October.

We don’t yet know what carrot ba.com will dangle. If you don’t need to convert immediately, you might as well wait a few days and see if they launch a better or worse competition – or something entirely different.

On the other hand, if you need to convert immediately, you might as well convert via avios.com and not BA. Remember that you can move your points from avios.com to British Airways Executive Club instantly via ‘Combine My Avios’.

Like a lot of people I’m going to be doing all/part Uber this time around.

I have a gut feeling that the X3 value is just not sustainable in the long run and it may be cut back, especially if the take up is very high.

  I’m getting lots of value via this route. Like I’ve said before, I’m not a buyer of avios at 1.25p. I can cash out my Tesco points and use them for uber rides I would take anyway / use them for work trips to and from the airport and get hard cash.

  Same here. Planning to convert straight to IHG to top up account and obtain Spire status. A nice Tesco to Virgin bonus would make it sweeter.

    There is or was a 10% Tesco to Virgin bonus running. Spire doesn’t get you much so don’t get too excited. The last two hotels I have stayed at, I have had to ask for the drinks vouchers.

    Same here, have searched everywhere on Clubcard and Virgin’s websites no mention of it, as you, I converted some expiring vouchers yesterday and they have posted with a 20% summer award bonus.
    
    I have converted to Virgin before so it is not targeted at first time users as the last promo.

It is very hard to believe …. but on a previous competition I opened a letter from Avios to discover we’d won two economy European returns which we took to Vienna on dates we chose. So the free flights and some IHG points and our normal upgrade got us four nights in a junior suite with club access all for no cash. I thought the letter saying I had won was a hoax at first as I never win anything. Happy days. Don’t get any Tesco points any more ……:)

Jenny’s comment above on 20% summer bonus is absolutely correct. The 20% bonus has so far not been published but CC confirmed that conversion carried out from 1 August ( I do not remember when they said the end date is) will have the bonus added by VA when the points are credited.
