My review of the ANA lounge at Tokyo Haneda’s International Terminal

This is our review of the ANA lounge in the international terminal at Tokyo Haneda airport.

Yesterday I reviewed my two impressive flights to Tokyo and back on ANA / All Nippon Airways.  You can read my ANA business class review here if you missed it.

Before catching my flight home, I checked out the ANA lounge in the international terminal at Tokyo Haneda airport.  All of ANA’s Heathrow flights depart from Haneda which is far nearer the city centre than Narita.

The ANA lounge is located opposite gate 110. My flight was from gate 112 so it took just 5  minutes to get there from the lounge.

There are two lounge available.  The one I used is for Business Class and Premium Economy passengers – it was interesting to see Premium Economy passengers getting access – as well as Star Alliance Gold members.  First Class passengers can use the ANA Suite lounge next door which unfortunately I didn’t get to see.

(ANA Premium Economy passengers also get lounge at Heathrow and various other airports, which is something to bear in mind when comparing ANA and BA.)

How could I not have liked the ANA lounge at Tokyo Haneda Airport? The first thing you see after you’ve walked past the reception are Star Wars figures. (I could end my review right here.  Shopper Points readers will know that I am a bit of a Star Wars fan.)  ANA has a tie-in with Star Wars and there is even an aircraft with Star Wars livery.

Even if you aren’t won over by Star Wars characters, the rest of the lounge is very pleasant indeed.

There are several areas with a vast amount of seats.

This was the sitting area at the far back where I chose to settle down.

There was also a TV area with Japanese news.

I was in the lounge around 10:30 which meant the buffet was still serving breakfast.

There are no British Airways bacon rolls here.  Instead, as well as bread rolls with jam:

….. you could also indulge in early morning sushi and miso soup.

This was one of the food and drink areas with bar stools at the front, various drinks at the back and the self serving buffet in between.  Drinks included draught beer, juices, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks for mixers – the usual.

These were the gorgeous sake vessels near the other food area.

Conclusion

The ANA business class lounge at Haneda is quite large and with the amount of seats it didn’t feel cramped even though there were lots of people around.  The staff were very friendly and kept refilling the food before it was finished – I never saw the buffet empty.

As the airport bus left the ANA InterContinental hotel quite early (I am reviewing that tomorrow) I had about 90 minutes to kill at the airport after clearing security.   The ANA lounge was a relaxing place to sit down and have breakfast and a drink ahead of the long flight back home.

If I had to be critical, you could argue that you might have expected a little more than the usual seating, eating and drinking options from what is ANA’s flagship home lounge.  That said, combined with the excellent United Club lounge at Heathrow, ANA has a decent set of lounge options if you choose them for your next Asia trip.
