Avios Ireland: 250 Avios via SuperValu for every eShop purchase

As a reminder, our coverage of Avios Ireland (AerClub) is exclusively on the Head for Points website. You will not receive these articles via our daily emails unless it is a deal which UK residents can take part in.

We have written about the relationship between Irish supermarket chain SuperValu and AerClub a few times.

Basically, 1 SuperValu Real Rewards point (which you get for spending €1 instore) converts into 1 Avios point.

Until 20th April, you will receive 250 bonus Real Rewards points for EVERY online shopping transaction made via SuperValu eShops. This contains over 100 retailers.

This time around, SuperValu has brought in some exclusions. The following merchants do not count: AliExpress, eBay, GearBest, SuperValu Car Insurance, SuperValu Home Insurance, SuperValu Travel Insurance, SuperValu.ie, Getaway Breaks.

Because you can earn the bonus an unlimited number of times, there may be some potential here for multiple purchases of low value items.

Don’t forget that AerClub is offering a 100% bonus on transfers of SuperValu points to Avios before 30th April. If your 250 bonus points arrive in time (the deadline is 14 days after the promotion ends on 20th April, so it is touch and go) then you’d be getting 500 Avios for every SuperValu eShops purchase.

      You’re looking at the Apple store eShop. There’s a separate eShop for iTunes (aka “the iTunes program”)

Interesting assertion by LL on how pax are targeted for IDB/downgrades by airlines, he mentions a previous BA case. I too find it very weird that of the 4 pax “Randomly selected” asked to leave United flight 2 of them was the Dr and his wife. United and other airlines should show us the process if they have nothing to hide…

new Amex statement credit at Boots £5 when you spend £20; they usually sell various gift cards.
The email also mentioned Esso but I have not got it on any cards.

As this seems to be the O/T area today…

Probably a simple question for the experienced 241 users: I’m looking to book LHR-DEL and return BOM-LHR in J or F. Can I book this as a separate outbound and return to save APD (I’m assuming that Indian APD will be less than LHR!)? If so, do I need to do this by phone? And do I need to phone anyway for an open-jaw ticket?

  The tax is not an issue – even if two singles had different taxes to a return ticket, the ticket must be issued as a return to use the 241 so you don’t have any flexibility.

      It is very unlikely there are tax savings. The only countries where you probably get this are Hong Kong and Brazil due to local law.

        OK, thanks. I did an open-jaw 241 last year, returning from HKK, and I was kicking myself for missing the potential tax savings – but I couldn’t have taken advantage with a 241 – in a funny sort of way, that makes me feel better 🙂

  Kobo ebook purchases of €0.49 have got the 250 bonus.
  
  And the offer had been extended until 25th of April and with the conversion bonus you get 500 avios per €0.49
