Last day for new Tesco Direct LEGO deal
This is quick reminder that – until midnight tonight (Monday) – Tesco Direct is giving you 1,000 bonus Clubcard points (worth 2,400 Avios or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club miles) when you spend £60 of LEGO Friends.
You may remember this memorable article by a HfP reader who set up a small business reselling LEGO bought in a similar promotion last year. If you know what you’re doing it is possible to buy Avios very cheaply this way.
The easier option, of course, is to buy the LEGO as presents for any young children in your life.

Two Etihad Guest bonuses with Kaligo.com
Hotel booking site Kaligo.com – which offers you large chunks of airline miles with every booking you make through them – has launched a new offer with Etihad Guest.
For bookings made by 30th April, for stays until 31st December, you will receive a 50% miles bonus.
This offer is valid for both new and existing Kaligo.com customers. However, if you have never booked with Kaligo.com before, you will earn an extra 1,000 Etihad Guest miles on your first booking.
It isn’t clear if this bonus stacks with, or is instead of, the 20% bonus miles you get if you credit to Etihad Guest and pay with the UK MBNA Etihad Guest credit card.

Remember that bookings via Kaligo.com are treated as third party stays and will not earn you points, stay credit or status benefits in any hotel loyalty programme.
Up to 50% bonus when buying Flying Blue miles
Flying Blue, the Air France / KLM loyalty programme, is running a bonus promotion for anyone who is looking to top up their account:
This offer is the best we have seen for a while for anyone who wants to buy a large number of Flying Blue miles – 50% is very good by their standards.
The bonus is staggered:
- 30% bonus when you buy 4,000 to 8,000 miles
- 40% bonus when you buy 10,000 to 28,000 miles
- 50% bonus when you buy 30,000 to 50,000 miles
The annual cap depends on your status level – 75,000 miles for Ivory member or unlimited for elite members – but this promotion caps everyone at 50,000 miles.
Is that a good deal? Well, Flying Blue is not exactly well regarded amongst European frequent flyer programmes. However it does have regular ’50% discount’ sales on some routes.
At the end of the day, I don’t imagine anyone except an existing Flying Blue member topping up an account getting excited by this. It is also worth remembering that Flying Blue is an American Express Membership Rewards partner if you need a few thousand extra miles.

How to earn Flying Blue miles from UK credit cards (December 2021)
Air France and KLM do not have a UK Flying Blue credit card. However, you can earn Flying Blue miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards. These are:
- American Express Preferred Rewards Gold (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 20,000 Flying Blue miles. This card is FREE for your first year and also comes with two free airport lounge passes.
- The Platinum Card from American Express (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 30,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 30,000 Flying Blue miles
- American Express Rewards credit card (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 5,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 5,000 Flying Blue miles. This card is FREE for life.
Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Flying Blue miles which is an attractive rate. The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Flying Blue mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.
