News in brief:

Get money off Addison Lee rides

In response to heavy competition from Uber, Gett and Hailo, Addison Lee launched a new app in summer last year.

If you didn’t get around to trying the app yet, you can get some money off by downloading it now.

There are currently two sign up codes that will give you money off your first Addison Lee rides.

  • £10 off first ride – enter code HELLO10
  • £20 off 4 bookings (4 x£5) – enter code HELLO20

It’s up to you which code you use. Unfortunately you cannot use both and you need to choose when signing up.

You can download the Addison Lee app via this page here if you are reading this on your mobile or tablet.

Win Qatar Airways flight tickets

Qatar Airways has launched a competition giving you the chance to win 2 x Qatar Airways return economy flights from London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham or Edinburgh to any destination on the Qatar Airways network.

The second place winner gets 50,000 bonus Qmiles and the three winners sharing the third place will each receive an A350 model Qatar Airways plane.

You need to play a little game on this page of the Qatar Airways website in order to enter. In this game you need allocate seats to passengers by listening to their needs. Once you’ve done this you can get a further entry by forwarding the game to friends.

Economy tickets aren’t as exciting as a pair of Business Class seats, but as you can choose any destination served by Qatar you won’t have any problem finding somewhere to go.

Closing date is 24th March and you can only enter once per person.

Airparks

Get 20% off Airparks

Airparks is an airport parking provider operating throughout the UK.

The company sent us a special promotional link for our readers.  If you book using this exclusive link, a discount of up to 20% will be applied to your booking.  You should see ‘Your discount code has been applied’ in the yellow bar at the top of the page.

I think I would rather win the 2nd prize of 50,000 miles than 2 economy tickets!

Thanks for the Addison Lee promo code .. I was going to book something today for my LHR to LGW connection and the net net was £77 after discount “just” 50% more than the coach which in my book is worthwhile. Cheers.

OT – Does anyone know if the Amex Travel offer of £50 of £200 spend has to be done in one transaction or is it commutative? Not used mine yet and just need to work out if I need to split a booking to get max value.

    Off Topic but Qatar related.

Does the QCalculator have any founding in reality ?
The QCalculator says a return business class flight from London to Bangkok costs 150,000 QMiles. It does not state a range, simply one figure of 150,000 QMiles.
However I can not find any dates whereby such a flight is available for less than 280,000 QMiles.
Admittedly I have not tried every single date but I have tried many.
Has anyone else found that the QCalculator lies horribly, making you think that a QMile is more valuable than it actually is ?
