Avios launches new targetted Super Boost promotion

avios.com launched a new promotion yesterday to encourage you to increase your Avios collecting this spring.

Super Boost is a targetted offer which has gone to a minority of members. None of my family have received anything. If you didn’t get it, there is nothing you can do about it.

You need to opt in by the end of February and then collect a specific number of Avios before the end of April. Irrespective of when you register, all earning from 1st January counts towards your target.

The bonuses are based on your previous earning activity and vary sharply. For example, I saw one offering:

1,500 Avios for earning 18,000 points or 3,000 Avios for earning 25,000 points

but another reader got:

200 Avios for earning 400 points or 400 Avios for earning 600 points

Quite a difference.

Avios from all air and non-air partners count towards your target. There is no leeway on the receipt of Avios, however – they must be in your account by 30th April. If you have the Lloyds credit card, check what date your points hit to ensure that you don’t spend unnecessarily in the final month.

The easiest way to hit your target is probably from a Tesco Clubcard conversion although the cut-off date for the next voucher run is Thursday 26th January. This means that you will struggle to do anything quickly to earn additional points this quarter.

Be careful about crediting British Airways flights to avios.com because you not receive any elite status bonus that BAEC would give and your tier points will be lost.

Lloyds Avios Rewards credit card refer-a-friend bonus is back

I wrote an article yesterday moaning about the loss of the refer-a-friend bonus on the Lloyds Avios Rewards credit card.

This definitely seemed to have died. I saw two separate tweets sent by Lloyds to Head for Points readers confirming it.

And then, a few hours after my article appeared, it was relaunched! You can, yet again, receive 4,500 Avios points when you are referred for the Lloyds Avios Rewards card.

OT: re Iberia Plus “90 day” rule.
My understanding was that this just applied to transferring *out of* Iberia Plus, and you could transfer *into* Iberia Plus straight away, so long as the account is “active” (i.e. earned 1 or more Avios).
Is this correct, or is the 90 day rule for “both ways”?

FYI, and not wanting to cause lots of similar replies, I received my 18700 Avis bonus in my Iberia account this afternoon. That was ‘unprompted’, i.e. I hadn’t complained about the delay.

        Yes me too.. was thinking it was a mistake as I had to bring my booking forward by a day due to a work requirement….
        
        I spent £62 and got 18,700 …but since the hire car was needed for a work trip where I accrued £110 for mileage allowance, so in the end after spending £30 on fuel I was ‘up’ by £8 and the Avios..,plus had their car over the weekend too!!!

        I fired in a polite email to Avis customer services at lunchtime Squills- as despite your positivity throughout, I thought the matter could do with some chasing up! 🙂 .
        
        An auto reply stated that the matter would be investigated and a reply would take a maximum 10-15 days.
        
        However, Bingo (!) they’re in the same day- now that’s what I call customer service !

Just got my 18k Iberia avios from Avis too. Really pleased with that one, even if the Citroen they gave me was an awful piece of crap! Also just got 10k avios from Nutmeg (which should trigger a measly 400 from the Super Boost promo), another 1k for the “new partner” offer, 500 from a Shell bonus offer and another 100 for stopping the fill up on 0pence, and 26k from the BA amex card. Pretty good day for my avios balance!

Just checked my Hilton statement and for a 10k point redemption I scored 2500 pts by using the HH Visa, 5k pts for booking through the app, and with 3.5x points from bonus offers and a diamond bonus, and another 1k as a diamond, my stay earned nearly 12k points! Just booked the same again, which will also count towards retaining Diamond – Interestingly my HH account is telling me I need 29 stays to “retain diamond in 2018”, which makes me wonder if my current diamond (from a status match to Accor) will stay active for all of 2017?

I also just realised that my IHG redemption in Minsk will be getting cheaper on the 15th so I can cancel and re-book, saving 15000 IHG points!
