Happy Christmas to you and your family. I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are.

Do please post below if your travels have taken you anywhere exciting this Christmas.  I am in London with the in-laws!  Anika is in Hamburg with her family.

Head for Points is taking a two day break. We will be back on Tuesday 27th with a review of my travel highlights and lowlights of 2016.

If you want something to read in the meantime, take a look under the ‘Favourite Articles‘ tab where you will find my pick of the most relevant pieces published in 2016, including our ‘Avios Redemption University‘ series and all of our credit card reviews.

If you collect Avios via Tesco Clubcard, you may also want to take a look at the recent articles over at our sister site Shopper Points.

Thank you for your support over the past year.

Merry Christmas Rob, Anika and all Hfp readers from beautiful Jamaica. Thanks for all the work you do.

I redeemed 22500 + Paid GBP 168.96 in taxes for a one way trip to montego bay traveling on 23rd Dec. Major score !!! Usual flight prices are around £500-£600 for an economy booking as part of a return flight.

Not sure how happy Melia was picking up £3750 of the £5750 drinks bill 🙂 albeit at their own inflated bar prices ……

      • Lady London says:

Do you mean 150 people drank £5750 of drinks in one 2-hour period?

Good grief! That’s £38 per person.

        • Monopolies commission says:

A drink every 30 minutes at London prices sounds about right

        • Rob says:

          Correct.

And that ignores all the people who paid cash because they wanted spirits, which were not included.

The annual party my City firm used to throw at the Royal Exchange always cost us £100 per head although that included champagne, canapes and a venue charge. My view was that we should send all our contacts £100 in cash and get similar business benefits whilst saving ourselves a huge amount of work – although a marriage did come out of a chance meeting at one of our events so they can be worthwhile!
