  Oh the Servisair lounge wasn’t that bad, after all you could get yourself a cold can of Guinness from the fridge! I made a point of visiting before it closed and this does look much nicer.

  On another lounge note, any idea when the CX lounge is going to reopen in T3? That was always my favourite, and I thought it was due to reopen this summer. Not that I’ll be flying anywhere from the UK anytime soon.

    I was with Cathay two weeks ago and they were non-committal, although apparently we will be getting an invite to the opening press tour.

    Wasn’t that bad? The last time I went (when the No 1 was “full” because of all the Cathay people using it) the lady on reception was actively discouraging people from paying to use it!! A girl in front of me with Priority Pass card was trying to get 3 additional people in and the receptionist was trying to explain to her that for the extra charges she’d be paying for each of them, they’d get better value food elsewhere in T3!

    I had to make a meal out of a bad minestrone, cheese and crackers and crisps. At lease in the No 1 lounge there’s more selection. The first time I went into the Service Air lounge was for a morning flight and the muffins BA serve in Y were better than what was on offer here!!

    If you’re able to drink the price of your admission, then good on you. As far I’m concerned, good riddance!

  OT. I currently have a BA premium card. My wife referred me previously and then cancelled her card. I have currently triggered the spend for 2-4-1 voucher so wanted to downgrade to the free BA card to get back the majority of my £195 fee. The plan is to refer my wife again for a premium card in 4 months (ie after 6 months in total) and then cancel my card.

  I know previously you could refer for the premium card if you had free one (same way in which you could refer for platinum while holding gold card). However now when I go to refer a friend it seems you can only refer someone for exactly the same card you hold. Have Amex changed their referral system?

    Yes they have changed the system by making it more obscure. When your friend gets the invitation they can click on the top right hand corner to change to a different card in the same group, so BA/BAPP, Gold/Platinum etc.

    You refer for the card you have and then on the web page this generates for the referred person there will be a link at the bottom to choose a different card in the same series, i.e. the same link will refer free or premium BA Amex, and a Platinum referral link can be used for Gold, etc.

  Today guest time after 2years using flounge I went to business ba lounge at t3 and almost forgot how crappy is it, only plus free drinks, but breakfast roll with bacon not for me so I went to check aspier

  They have now toilets already out of order 2 , is 2 more for family/baby but flush doesn’t give anough power to get ride of toilet paper…,so I didn’t make anything harder where ….

  It’s big disappointed for new lounge

  Breakfast better than BA, nice rest area where you can sleep for 6guests

  They charge 15pound for shower but I didn’t check if priority pass have free showers

    No, I think they charge for the shower. I tried to see if I could get in to the lounge when they told me it was “full” by having a shower, but they said there was a charge. As this was the start of my journey, I didn’t really need one!

  Speaking of lounges… BA is soon to stop ‘shopping around’ by restricting T3 lounge access to one per flight. How is yet to be confirmed but it’s sad times either way. What they don’t seem to realise is that if they made their own lounge better people wouldn’t want to go anywhere else……

    I made the error of going to GC T3 yesterday. The “breakfast” was anaemic.

    Sounds like I’d have eaten properly if this article was published yesterday! 🙂
