Got Enrich Miles? Up to 70% off Malaysia Airlines redemptions from London to Kuala Lumpur

Malaysia Airlines has launched a generous promotion for redemption seats on its route from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur.

The snag is that it is only available to people who have Malaysia’s Enrich Miles and not to people redeeming oneworld partner miles such as Avios.

Enrich Miles is not an American Express Membership Rewards partner in the UK, so there is no easy opportunity of getting some miles together from scratch in the next five days.

Until 16th October, you can use your Enrich Miles to book London to Kuala Lumpur at the following rates:

Economy miles – up to 30% off
Normally, 42,500 – 62,500 miles (one way), reduced to 34,000 – 37,500 miles

Golden Business Class – up to 55% off
Normally, 150,000 – 250,000 miles (one way), reduced to 90,000 – 112,500 miles

First Class – up to 70% off
Normally 260,000 – 400,000 miles (one way), reduced to 117,000 to 120,000 miles

‘Cash and Miles’ is also available with this offer, allowing you to benefit if you don’t have enough miles for a full redemption.

Malaysia Airlines runs an A380 from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur, with two flights per day. As a oneworld member you earn Avios and British Airways tier points when you fly them on cash flights, and you can also redeem your Avios with them via ba.com – although you won’t get a discount!

  They have a sale on at the moment, offering one-way flights from Phuket or Bangkok for the equivalent of about 550 pounds.

  If you/others are happy to start in Phuket you can get HKT-LHR in J for under £500ow or under £900rtn from now through the end of May. Tickets are nonrefundable but can be changed for a fee plus fare difference. MAS is 737 with shorthaul business seat and a380 to LHR on a380 with full flat seats on upper deck in 222 configuration. KUL-HKT is 4500/9000 avios in Y/J for a redemtion, or peanuts on AirAsia which is much less likely to be cancelled.

    That’s interesting James, are Air Asia generally very reliable as you hint? A colleague is flying them from phuket to connect to Emirates at KL on a separate booking, and has 2 hours to do this with checked luggage. Includes a change of terminal! I wouldn’t risk it myself!

      Air Asia is a great airline, never had any problems with them, although i recommend taking all the extra options such as preorder food, seat reservation at the front – all relatively cheap to do and worth it.
      
      A 2 hour connection will be tight. Air Asia fly into KLIA2, if you are really unlucky the gate will be at the far end of the terminal and its a very very long walk to get to the main building. Then its a quick train ride over to the main terminal at KLIA and check in. But then its another train ride to get to the satellite terminal where the international flights take off from. Good luck to your friend!

        I’ve booked Air Asia for SIN-DPS and DPS-KUL next year. Having used them in the past, they’re a decent operation. And yes, all the extras are a bargain compared to U2 and FR.

      I did LHR-KUL-BKK last year and had about 2h connection. Despite change of terminals I ended up bored waiting for my flight to BKK and even had a quick light meal so it can be done. However, I’d prefer longer making an AirAsia to MAS connection given vastly different cost implications of missing it. It’s years since I was more than 10 minutes late on Air Asia although my partner was 25min late on one last month. IME they usually arrive early.

    HKT to KUL with MAS is 4500 avios and £47.90 in fees (one way), seems a waste of avios given how cheap Air Asia sell tickets for. Although MAS does include a 30kg luggage allowance in economy.
    
    For a long time MAS avios redemptions seemed to be limited to 1 seat per flight per cabin, but just checked and it looks like they have opened up a lot more availability.
    
    MAS were getting a reputation for cancelling flights, but i haven’t heard of any recent reports so perhaps they now have their timetable sorted out. I will be flying with MAS to HKT in December, they better not cancel!
