Free cinema tickets from American Express

As part of its London Film Festival sponsorship, American Express has arranged free screenings of the Opening Night Gala Film, A United Kingdom, starring David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike, at 28 Cineworld cinemas across the UK.

A United Kingdom is the true story of Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1947 in the face of opposition from their families and the British and South African governments.

OT – Anyone having problems getting into Awardwallet. I’ve been getting page time out errors since last night. I’ve cleared my cache and cookies and tried various ways of going to the page, including the link from HfP and still nowt.

  Am somewhat cheesed with AwardWallet right now as I’ve just realised it failed to notify me of 22000 Clubcard points that disappeared off my account… and have possibly expired without warning from Tesco or Awardwallet.
  
  I’m hoping it’s not true but I do have my Clubcard on AwardWallet and other changes in balances have been reported by AwardWallet by them sending me an email when they occurred. However not a peep on the Clubcard loss I’ve just noticed.

O/T did you ever pause to ponder what BA is up to with the Avios + money options?

I just got 4 Avios RFS redemptions (summer hols 2017 return) for 30K + £70 vs current cash price £540 + booking fee (lol from Kiev 🙂 )

So I got 1.57p/ Avios, mustn’t grumble. But here were my options & what that means for Avios valuation by BA:

30,000 Avios + £70.00 or…
24,000 Avios + £130.00 = 1p
21,200 Avios + £150.00 = 0.909p
18,000 Avios + £170.00 = 0.83333p
15,200 Avios + £190.00 = 0.8108p
10,000 Avios + £230.00 = 0.8p

In a way, that’s a bit surprising – BA does actually seem to be encouraging us to redeem the Avios rather than pay cash – I thought it would be the opposite.

Or is it just a way to squeeze a little bit more money out of people who are Avios-poor?
