  This afternoon I called at the Esso/Tesco petrol station in Evesham and bought £50 of Debenhams gift vouchers from their very poor selection.
  I got 150 CC points and also the £5 statement credit.
  I seem to remember from PTS that you can buy a Tesco gift voucher from the petrol station (no 150 points) and use it to buy gift cards from the large selection at Tesco getting the 150. Will try it.

  OT – anyone know how quickly Tesco to Avios.com conversions go through? VS miles came through days ago but still nothing from the transfer I did at the same time to Avios, am a bit suspicious they’ve gone and setup a new account!

    24hrs for me on one account and 48hrs on wifes (both posted to our household Avios.com account) so it seems strange if you are still waiting. If it helps, I transferred on Mon 1st Aug, hit Avios.com on 2nd and 3rd. Experience to Avios.com in previos quarters is the same, usually a day or two quicker than transfers I make to BAEC account. Loads of stories about them setting up new accounts for people, they will merge if you call apparently. Why they don’t ask for your membership number like BAEC and Virgin is beyond me.

      Thanks, good to know how quickly they came through for you. It’s a recurring problem with different Avios partners, especially when one lives in a flat and they seem to like listing the address differently – such an annoying system, would be much easier if they used membership numbers as you say!

    I’ve had issues in the past with doing tranfers to Avios & Virgin on the same day and them taking different times to come through. I rang the Clubcard telephone line and spoke to a chap who said he could see there was an issue at their end and resent the transfer (Virgin). Worth chasing them.

  Rob, re the Etihad offer, you wrote that flex tickets aren’t included but I’m looking to book LHR to MEL in October and it is showing 10% off in business flex?

  Etihad may be offering 10% off but that is a near permanent offering with an Amex card code (enter the first digits of your Amex – BAPP works) but the price currently is around 20% plus over the norm.

  From Asia they were offering 30% off fairly recently and had the dates fitted, I would have stocked up on flights originating there and wrapped them in a UK originating one. They also had 20% off as well from the UK not long ago.

  No 3x or 4x mileage accruals this year either I think. It was usually 3 or 4 times a year in recent years from a search of my emails.

  If the gulf between Finnair and Etihad opens up again then chauffeurs and lounges aside, we might need to go via Helsinki !

  My latest moan about BA is that I was flying Mauritius to Gatwick last month and they set up a sort of preliminary “Check”-In before you could join the queue for the actual check-in. This consisted of 2 lunatics and a weighing scale, making sure you are not over your allowance, well in advance of the real weigh-in. Despite our long-learned packing expertise, one of our suitcases showed 23.8Kg and the other 22.0Kg and we were shown aside and asked to take ONE KILO our of suitcase 1 and put it into suitcase 2. Despite my protestation and “Are you bloody nuts mate” comment we had to comply, shuffle a couple of pairs of knickers and rejoin the queue.

  What is totally frustrating is that when we reached the real scales, one bag was UNDER 22Kg and the other 22.1Kg

  Oh BA, you used to be so so good.
