Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

No Tesco / Avios conversion bonus …. but a competition instead

The current Clubcard collection quarter ended on 21st July.  Your vouchers will start to drop through your letterbox, or into your online account, very soon.

Anyone holding out for a ‘Tesco to Avios’ conversion bonus is going to be disappointed (again).

British Airways has dug up a very modest carrot to persuade you to convert your Tesco Clubcard vouchers to Avios via ba.com this quarter:

Who’d have thought your Tesco shop could send you on the holiday you’ve been dreaming of this summer? Well, from 1 – 31 August, Avios are giving away 1,000,000 points, as well as 10 prizes of 10,000 points – so you could be seeing a lot more of the world this summer.

Simply exchange a minimum of £5 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers into Avios throughout August, to be in with a chance of winning one of these great prizes.

And if you already choose to have your Tesco Clubcard vouchers exchanged to Avios, there’s no need to worry, you’ll be entered into the competition automatically.

It’s not hugely exciting, especially as the odds of winning are small.  Entry is automatic, it seems, so at least you don’t have to go to any specific effort to enter.

Note that Northern Ireland residents will not be entered due to the odd competition entry rules enforced over there.

Avios.com may still launch a different promotion but it is highly unlikely that they would launch a bonus when British Airways did not.

Virgin Atlantic may run a bonus but, based on recent experience, if they do it will be something modest like 20%.

Off topic – Does anyone know if they scan Amex Plat cards for entry to the Eurostar Lounge? I’ve used it before and cannot remember, but have since cancelled my card! Thought it may be worth a try. Thanks

The details of the Avios competiton are on the Avios website now, I think below are the important rules.

To enter the prize draw the Eligible participant must exchange a minimum of £2.50 in Tesco Clubcard Vouchers between 1/8/2016 and 14/8/2016. For every £2.50 in Tesco Clubcard Vouchers that are exchanged, Eligible Participants will receive one entry into the prize draw.

If you are part of the Tesco Clubcard auto-opt-in scheme, you will automatically receive one entry per day into the draw for every £2.50 Tesco Clubcard points converted into Avios between 6/5/2016 and 21/7/2016. (“Eligible Period”).

There will be 10 (ten) winners drawn per day to receive 18,000 Avios each (Eighteen Thousand) for the Eligible Period from the Avios UK Programme.
