News in brief:
Starbucks cashback offer with American Express
Over at Shopper Points today are details of a Starbucks / American Express cashback offer.
I am delighted to say that the rules are so badly worded that the combined brain power of Anika and myself has failed to agree on what they mean. The maximum rebate is definitely £5 though. Or is it? Full details are here. Note that only Amex-issued Amex cards are valid and not Barclays / Lloyds / TSB / MBNA versions.
10% off Emirates tickets for HSBC customers
This is the last week to benefit from a 10% discount on Emirates economy and business class tickets for HSBC customers.
You need to:
use promo code UKHSBC6 at the Emirates website
fly from the UK
book by 31st May
travel by 30th November
pay with an HSBC debit or credit card (not sure if this is checked or not as the discount is applied as soon as you enter the code)
Note that it is “not applicable on any other ad hoc promotional fare offer” so it is possible that the cheapest economy tickets may be excluded.
How to earn Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards (December 2021)
Emirates Skywards does not have a UK credit card. However, you can earn Emirates Skywards miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards. These are:
- American Express Preferred Rewards Gold (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 20,000 Emirates Skywards miles. This card is FREE for your first year and also comes with two free airport lounge passes.
- The Platinum Card from American Express (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 30,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 30,000 Emirates Skywards miles
- American Express Rewards credit card (review here, apply here) – sign-up bonus of 5,000 Membership Rewards points converts into 5,000 Emirates Skywards miles. This card is FREE for life.
Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Emirates Skywards miles which is an attractive rate. The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Emirates Skywards mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.
