Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Double Avios points with NH Hotels – up to 900 Avios per night – and redeem with them

NH Hotels is one of those niche European hotel chains that is rarely seen in the UK, although there is one in London, but crops up quite frequently on the continent.

As well as the main NH Hotels brand, the group also includes Hesperia and nhow.

Whilst not a British Airways Executive Club partner, you CAN earn Avios points whilst staying with NH Hotels, Hesperia and nhow if you credit them to an Iberia Plus account.  You can then move the points across to your BA or avios.com account via ‘Combine My Avios’ online.

NH Hotels

The standard earning rate with NH Hotels, Hesperia and nhow is shown here at iberia.com.  You earn 450 Avios per night for a 5-star, 350 per night for a 4-star and 200 Avios per night for a 2-star.

Until 30th April, you will earn double Avios on a stay which includes a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  All hotels in the chain seem to offer a 3pm check-out and breakfast until noon on Sundays so they are not a bad choice for a weekend break.

Looking at the small print, this offer only appears to include hotels in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria and Switzerland so the London property may be out.

Separately, it is worth noting that you can also redeem Avios points for NH Hotels.  On the face of it, it looks very expensive (to put it mildly) at 37,545 Avios per night for a 5-star.  This drops to 26,000 Avios per night during a ‘promotional’ period, which is not defined!

You also need to book by telephone with the Iberia call centre in Spain, which is likely to prove a challenge for anyone who does not speak Spanish.  More details on the NH / Iberia web page.

The main NH Hotels website is here.

  • Matthew says:

Combine my avios has never let me move points from Iberia to BA, only in the other direction. I was following Robs instructions, perhaps I was unlucky with some Iberia IT
issues, but this was multiple times with gaps between. Any one else have problems?

    • Alan says:

Have you tried using a different website? Eg BA if you’ve tried Iberia so far, or transfer them via Avios.com?

    • Metatone says:

Going via avios.com is the way to do it. Seems much more reliable.

    • @mkcol says:

Do you have a household account at the BA end? If so you can’t, you can only move to Avios.com first, then across to BA.

      • Matthew says:

Aha. It is a household BA account. Great I’ll try via avios.com. Thanks for your help.

    • Ian says:

Make sure it is over 90 days old, move then to Avios and then to BA.

Ensure the Avios is a personal account and not a family one.

  • Mark says:

I stayed with NH in February in Utrecht. Night hotel. Do you there is a way to claim that stay retrospectively?

    • Rob says:

May be possible if you still have the bill. Not sure what the IB retroclaim process is though!

      • Mike says:

Hi Raffles have some upcoming stays in NH Hotels for which I will be getting avios points from the Kaligo promotion where you got points for booking through Kaligo and further points for spend on BA Amex .
Are these points at risk if I use my Iberia Plus card for this promotion?

        • Rob says:

No, no risk. However it is unlikely you will get points from NH as you did not book direct – but worth a try.

  • @mkcol says:

OT – I’ve only had 1 of 3 articles come through to my email today.

  • JamesWag says:

OT but I didn’t receive this one as an email. The only one I received this morning is the Hotel Hoppa one 🙁

    Just me ??

  • Discount mike says:

NH hotels also give you a 2 for 1 coupon on your birthday. Although not valid on all hotels unfortunately.

  • AndyGWP says:

There used to be an alternative offer if you joined the NH rewards club (% off next stay IIRC), but you can only claim the avios, or the NH club points (as you’d expect) 🙂

Might be worth considering for people who stay regularly
